Although aren't these undesireabels free to make mistakes, and/or break the law?
Two truisms for the internet.
1. Sites fade and will be overtaken by "the next big thing".
2. People will always find inventive ways to use new media for sex
It is part of the natural progression of the internet age. BP adult sections WILL go away, just like CL did. But that will not stop the "trade". Myspace was "all the rage" about 5-6 years ago...now they hardly exist. Facebook is already showing signs of weakening. There will be a new social media site that will overtake FB.
Said sheriff is on a noble quest to stamp out the sex trade (at least of what some consider the "low end"). He along with others will likely get BP to shutdown their adult listings, but another resource will rise to fill the gap. The amateurs and fly by night girls WILL find an outlet as long as men are willing to pay.
The sad truth is that the illegal sex trade will continue to exist for the same reason. Men are willing to pay. I hope that in some small way, the professionals here (on both sides of the envelop) can contribute to curtailing this simply by only engaging with other consenting adults. My personal belief is that whatever happens between two (or more) consenting adults should not be illegal. It would be a better use of our tax dollars for LE to help those forced into the trade. I understand it may be difficult for them to distinguish between the two. "Yes, I want to do what I am doing" should be reason enough for them to move on.

While BP may be full of fake pics, bait & switch ladies, robs, & no-shows... in some states, BP is the ONLY avenue for ladies to advertise. Take MT for example...they have one main site, and 2 smaller ones..but for the most part, you HAVE to advertise on BP, as most of the gents out there are unaware of the other local sites. There are quite a few states where BP is the only option. Just like BP has it's share of problems, it is apparent on most escort malls....it's just easier to keep switching names/numbers/pics on BP..versus on te escort malls, they would actually have to make a new profile each time, lol.

... they are susceptible to racketeering charges. There is a sheriff in Polk County who focuses only on BP busts. He busted 98 just recently (May or June) and took 70 something in this past January. He's making national headlines for his sweeps and has made public statements that he intends to go after BP's admin and to get the site down. Might take some time but Craig's list no longer offers adult services on their site so it can be accomplished. My fingers are crossed and waiting. BP to me is full of amateurs and fly by night girls who think they want to do this and then realize quickly that they don't. That's just too much fluff to have to search around.

Some escorts don't have the money when starting out to put ads on all these 'reputable' sites, (which, by the way, have escorts with bad reviews just like any site). I found I DID want to escort after starting out on BackPage... and it's still going well. You won't find me there now, but not because I don't think it's ok to throw an ad on there to beef up clientele... and rake some new ones into the hobby world. 
There are other reasons, but it has nothing to do with feeling lower for doing so. (See thread above)

While I agree that BP can be problematic, I don't think it should be shut down. We are all adults and can deal with the consequences of our mistakes (both the men who find ladies there and the ladies who advertise). I also don't think that ladies trying their hand at it should suffer by being made to find less safe ways of trying it. I really don't think the ladies here are in any way threatened by anyone on BP. Honestly- they are not our competition. Let them do what they will.
Those trying to eliminate trafficking by shutting down BP are either intellectually challenged or really just trying to make p4p difficult (which is my guess). Police always have an easier time of finding actual victims and perps when they have access to the information BP has on the people who place the ads. And trust me- they won't stop at BP. Why do you think P411 and Eros have been experiencing hack attacks?
We should be fighting the criminalization of p4p, and the torch and pitchfork approach to prosecuting the providers, rather than throwing new or less fortunate providers and clients under the bus.

Just like the old CL.. BP is the new CL... Of course there are pimps and under age girl and woman against their will. Sad, sad, sad....
Not every Ad on BP is a druggie, pimp or under age girl but the percentage is high..
I would never ,ever advocate and support those things..
It is a sad day to me. That these folks make it hard for the consenting adults....
Most of my regulars from the Back Page days said, "I usually don't use back page, but I'm glad I did this time!" Then I meet and/or talk to BP ladies and, well, these guys are always on back page. Reviewing BP ladies and these ladies are reviewed WELL.
Some dudes know how to determine if a lady is going to be good or not because they do their research and read other reviewers' takes on them.
People get a slap on the hand if they say they browse BP for ladies, so they're ashamed to admit they're being smart by finding what they want on BP. Why the hell not?
