Is it consistent over time?  Can it wax and wane in strength?

It stinks that such a nice word gets perjorative meanings from its use day to day.


While on the subject of word meanings, I think, based wholly on strict definition, the term "prostitute" should not be used to describe escorts.

The meaning of prositute is to debase, however the escorts I know do not debase sexuality, they cherish it.

Leave the word for crooked politicians, and people of their ilk.

"Prurient" is one of those words that defies proper pronunciation without careful thought.

I think of prurient interests as the graduate course in sexuality. That is, if your interests are properly prurient.
