I just talked with someone about this a few weeks ago.  He said that the clearest moment in a man's mind is right after he cums, and after that thoughts of sex start to build again within a few hours.  These thoughts continue to build until it gets to a point where a man can think of nothing else but sex and he has to find a release so that he can function properly again in the head (the big one, lol).  He added that 18 year old boys have no rational thoughts, ever, because they are consumed by thoughts of sex 24/7, but that it gets better as men get older and they are able to have at least a few thoughts about things other than sex.  
   
 Physically, it's about the release of hormones and endorphins, and men use sex as the release (as do women who enjoy sex).  There are other ways to achieve that euphoria, and some people live without feeling any release at all, like monks.  Or maybe monks do achieve it through meditation...I don't know enough about that.  Anyway, it's the same euphoria that some people get from exercise, smoking, doing drugs, eating, extreme sports, etc.
