By the way that app is available on droid as well. Why you would want such an app I do not know. I will never put it on my phone.
Now this is interesting! Gotta love technology!
off. It should only scare you if your don't know how to operate your phone..
Or.. Leave your phone at work or where your supposed to be.
This is not rocket science.
I assume my el-cheapo burn phone has no such ap, right? Why would anybody use anything else?
which is people's distrust of each other.
Turning it off will only elicit the question: Why is your location finder shut off?
It's slippery slope from there.
Maybe this technology will hasten the end of the institution of marriage, which could be a good thing.
If everybody knows that anyone can know where anyone else is at any time, then it all becomes pointless.
IPhones and the hobby don't mix if you need to hide it. You can't erase or lock the file ether. I don't know if the new OP system has the file or not but the IPads do as well.

For those of us who need to follow up on this - can you provide a link or a lead on where to find more info on this? I'm particularly interested in the Android side of it....

My SO isn't technically savvy so I think I'm more likely to get caught straying through her hiring a P.I. than I am through either the Find a Phone feature or this unencrypted file.
Been fixed two releases ago.
Its best to have a hobby phone and keep it hidden away.
But yep, gotta love technology. The apps are getting easier to get and easier to use.
Your phone always knows where you are.
spooky......lol....
When you first set up your phone, it asks if you want to use the feature. It sounds cool and many will enable it without thinking. Others will allow someone else to turn it on without realizing it. It's simple enough to opt out of that program (settings, iCloud), but somebody is going to wish they had after its too late.
I can't see some videos on youtube because I haven't downloaded the "stuff" I need to see it...Is there an app for that? lmfao

I'm glad that I just switched to a cheap cell service company and a cheap cell phone. We should control the technology not the other way around. I know one of the beautiful ladies said it and I agree. If you have one of those phones, take control and turn that extra crap off.
It seems like the husband already suspected his wife of cheating so he added that app to the phone and gave it to his wife.Sounds like she was cheating I guess he will take these screen shots and try to get some money from her in the divorce.Technology is much needed in this day and age but some of this technology is going way too far.If I understand correctly the app can track where your friends or I guess SO is located. Why would somone need this info unless they are trying to be a snoop?Between these apps and crazy facebook with all of their changes I guess privacy is becoming a thing of the past.
It will become a thing of the past only if we allow it. There are things we can't control but we should control all that we can.
This is not only on the iphone, but this technology has been out for over 10 years. iphone has only made it easier. There are always news report about this, if not this, then something similar to it.
The thing about the iphone is, both party has to agree with using the technology, and both parties have to electronically accept the application. The husband probably took her iphone and installed it on there without her consent.
As with previous years, this technology was used with older non-smart phones. Again, it wasn't as easy as the iphone, but the concept was the same.
So, no1 can know where you are. Only bad part is, when using a GPS on your phone, its pointless. Also, when taking pictures and using other apps, its also pointless because it doesn't know your location.
if the S/O gives you an Iphone as a gift, make sure to check the tracking settings before you use it. And make sure you have password access
Which can track you to a 1 or 2 block radius of your location an iphone can pinpoint exactly were you are.so that is why I don't under stand way people want an iphone.
My (now) ex was going out & staying out when I got stuck with overnight shifts. She thought she got away with it but several times I heard the car creeking with heat when I parked... does not take a detective to put your hand on the hood & it's hot!
So I paid a late night call to her GF... was legitimately going through a tough time. GF & I talked for several hours before GF went to bed (GFs grandson was already tucked into her bed). She insisted I spend the night on her couch, provided pillow & blanket.
So GF, GS & I were having eggs when the phone rings.
GF answers, motions me to come near & holds the phone off her ear so I can hear.
Soon To Be Ex: "I called my house but *me* is not answering. Call & tell *me* that STBE spent the night & is on her way home."
GF: "I can't tell hm that."
STBE: "Why not?"
GF: "Because he's standing next to me"
click... I did not see her for a week, and then only because her father went looking for her...
Just for the record... I had never looked at another woman when I was in a relationship. My buddies kept wanting to check my pulse! Fast Forward another 20 years and a marriage that eventually turned sexless before I went looking outside.
Don't you know what happens when you cross paths the real you w/ the Bizzaro you?!
Today's world, your phone is a representation of you.
Why use your personal fone to hobby with?!
whether you have a SO or not. It's just better security to not mix reality with pleasure!
There is absolutely nobody that I am hiding my whore mongering from, and some of the providers I see have become good friends, so I have no need or want for a hobby phone.
PS I have been doing this for decades will no ill consequences so spare me the lecture. If you don't lie, you have nothing to be blackmailed with.
If you don't know look it up at "How Stuff Works". People really don't read and understand the capabilities of devices they use, you can control how every application is used. People should lock their phone's first, set a one password for the Phone and another for the SIM card. You can set the iPhone not to record incoming or outgoing calls, if you wish, not to save messages, etc.
Devices are getting smarter and smarter and people who refuse to read and understand will get dumber and dumber.
