Jeanne Palfrey's death has increased the numbers of calls we are getting to help women out of sex work.

We help rescue those who have been forced/trafficked into sex work that the governmental agencies can't help - or those who don't want to testify against anyone in order to receive help.

We focus strictly on providing rescue to the victims - and helping them get on their feet again in a new life outside of sex work.  We do so without making any records that could come back to ruin the very new lives they are trying to build.

If you are a survivor - we have those who would like to talk to you for support and hope.

If you know of someone who is being forced into sex work - please have get in touch with us.

If you'd like to help us help others:

1.     We can take cash donations at http://www.tapsdirectory.org - you can also paypal something to [email protected].  If you prefer to send a cash donation in order to remain anonymous - you may send is securely to J. Williams, P.O. Box 3535, Tonopah, NV 89049.

2.     We are in huge need of cars. Those who may have people looking for them aren't safe standing on bus stops and can't afford cabs. Very few pimps and/or traffickers will let a woman escape with a car.

If you don't have a car to donate - but maybe want to donate a bus pass - that would be great.

We can't accept offers of transportation because that would put the identity of our survivors at risk.

3.     We need clothes. These women often escape with nothing but the clothes on their backs.  Clothes for them and for their children are very useful.  Not just day clothes - but clothes for job hunting or even work clothes are great.  We've had to buy things like black pants and white shirts for those who can get jobs at temporary services, or black jackets for one who got a job driving a limo, or even work shoes for one who can get a job as a waitress.

4.     Everyone is crunched for food right now - and a lot more people are finding themselves in a situation where food can make the difference between staying off the streets or not. If you have non-perishable food items - again we can arrange a safe dropoff point for you.

5.     If you offer a job (legitimate please) and won't hold someone's past against them, or have a lot of questions about their past - please let us know. Many of our survivors are working today because someone understanding was willing to offer them a job - no questions asked.

6.     Affordable housing of course is a problem. It's very hard to find someone willing to rent to you when you have no history for work or even an address. Credit may be non-existant because they've been living under the radar for so long. Rent may be easy to afford - but big move-in costs are just too hard to raise in the short time we have from the time they call us - to the time they need to move into some place safe. If you have any housing ideas - please contact us to let us know. We do not allow "stay with me" offers because it's just not safe for either party. The survivors may have bad people looking for them and put you at risk - and we also can't risk housing offers from people who don't really have the best interests of survivors at heart. Referrals to legitimate landlords willing to work with us would be very welcome.

7.     Furniture is another huge need. Since these women escape with nothing - they are starting over from nothing. Furniture, baby furniture, bedding, linens, towels, curtains, etc. are always welcome. Again we can arrange a safe drop off point for you if you have a donation. We can not allow you to take directory to our survivors' homes because again that would endanger their anonymity.

8.    Medical and dental work is one of the most needed for our survivors. Often they have had their teeth broken and even if they have insurance - it might not cover what is considered "cosmetic" work. It can be hard to get a job in the service industry for example if one is missing their front teeth or has broken glasses taped together. If you know of any doctors, dentists, optometrists, etc., willing to help our clients - please let us know.

If you know of any agencies that assist victims other than we have listed on our site for Nevada - please also let us know so we can update our list.

We are under no surveillance at any time and are not connected with any law enforcement or religious groups. TAPS is run strictly by survivors.

If you are under 18 - you do not have to tell us your real name - and we can arrange you safe passage into a program out of state.

We are operating under a 501c3 now.

PS - if you know of anyone who has a desire to quit, but isn't a trafficking victim - please refer them to www.sexworkersanonymous.org.  This is a 12 step group for men and women with a desire to leave the sex industry.  SWA has meetings in Las Vegas, a recovery guide, and phone/email/mail/online support from others in recovery available for free and totally anonymous.
