I read a review of a provider recently who really got off on being spanked. I've read about guys liking it, too.

Nothing about spanking has ever appealed to me, and I can't figure out why it would appeal to others. There has to be something beyond sex, because it's not usually considered sex. Maybe there was some father figure issue or whatever, but there has to be something.

Anyone care to shed some light?

in the actual question, your whole premise was "why someone likes a certain act". And its a faulty premise because the hobby is personal to everyone. Like nick said.. As long as you are not hurting anyone w/o their consent or doing anything with underage women, ITS ALL GOOD.

The question has no basis of argument or inference. It's simply a question, a matter of curiosity, which I hoped to have answered to some extent so that I could understand the appeal. The question was not judgmental It was only your reaction to it that was judgmental.

I agree that as long as you're not harming someone, to each his own. Maybe I don't get it and I won't join you, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't go for it. I applaud and respect anyone who accepts their own desires and has the confidence to explore them without judging himself even. That's why we're all on here right? Not worried about it, just curious.

I have some pretty good ideas why exhibitionism appeals to me. Same with food. I've been pretty introspective most of my life, so I tend to ask myself questions about why I like what I like or do what I do.

The only reference to this that I've read is that certain object or experiences become sexualized during the development of sexuality, teen and pre-teen I would guess.  It seems to be pretty easy to be imprinted then, with shoes and feet for a common example.

I think that underlying most BDSM is a subconscious way of acting out power relationships and self image.  Perhaps instinctual left over from our evolutionary tribal ape lineage.  Maybe part of that for the "bottom" is something about "I'm not good enough to attract her/him but she/he will like me if I let them have their way with me."
