I’m gonna assume MOST “mongers/hobbyists” on here would consider themselves comfortably MIDDLE class (something tells me there’s an UPPER class version of “T.E.R.” that only the 1% know about, and where they organize “Eyes Wide Shut” type orgies, but that for another thread. 😉)
What would you consider the MID-range for YOUR area of the country?
For the East coast, I assume the mid range to fall bet. 3-6 bills.
Anyone falling above that is either a PS... or possibly DELUSIONAL.  😳

That statement is hardly true. Part of what makes TER useful is the fact that traveling guys can get an idea about local markets when they travel.  

I have found, from following providers from all over the country, that rates are fairly flat, with the exception of a few places like NYC and LA. For instance, I visit my dad in Phoenix every year, and for the most part, provider rates there are comparable to the Twin Cities.

The fact of the matter is, while one can be confident of what the “mid-range” is in his HOME “base,” rarely does one possess the same “knowledge” in another region, hence making this an “IMPORTANT” thread, IMHO.  😉
I couldn’t begin to tell you WHAT the “mid-range” is CURRENTLY in a major Southern metropolis like Atlanta (I would assume bet. 3-4 bills?). 🤔

traveling on business.  If your work takes you to AZ and MN in the same month, and you intend to see providers in both cities, comparing rates would be prudent.  Most mongers seeing a reasonable number of providers have good insight into what you get at what price points in your local market, but as GaG points out, there are a lot of ways to overpay when you are traveling if you don't research your destination market before you go.  

Indeed, and the rates have shot up big time over the past several years.  There are some great mature providers there whose rates have stayed steady but for the gals under 35, or so, it’s been a whole different ball game.  I imagine it’s this way in a lot of markets, if not most, but it just seems like Vegas has gotten crazy expensive.  Yep, lots of guys with lots of cash.  Kudos to the providers bringing home $1200/hr.

Plenty of ladies in that range everywhere including Las Vegas.  If you know where to look there are several awesome ladies in that range everywhere.

Good topic actually..... I hope the ladies from NYC/Vegas/CA. take notice when traveling to Atlanta, and adjust their prices downward! Yeah, right!  

I've found it to be a decent resource although it depends on the area as some have more ads than others. Also, while traveling providers are great, they have additional expenses to cover which makes it less likely that they'll adjust their rates. I tend to favor locals as I enjoy the perks of being a favored regular client.

I am 400/hr in my homebase Vegas and in all cities except for NYC and Wisconsin.
In NYC when I visit I'm 500/hr due to incall and more expensive to host in Manhattan and Wisconsin I lower my rate to 350/hr for pre-booked appts.

Amen to that!  I went a good deal out of my range (or what was my range before I went to SA) for my last experience.  Just go read my last review of a young lady in Chas.  and I can tell you that was money and time (2.5 hour drive each way) well spent.

Low is less than $300
Mid is $300-$500
High is $600 and above
Porn Stars no longer claim top dollar because there are too many ladies that loosely use that qualifier.  
Most agencies are $300-$400.

Those figures may hold true for YOUR “neck of the woods,” depending upon where those “woods” are located.
As someone based in NY, those figures appear LOW to me.

Actually, when I was making frequent business trips between LA and PHX, the AZ talent tended to be 25% less than the LA market. There are plenty of local women who are poor/unskilled/bored/college students/retail-minimum wage workers in town to fill out the ranks of available providers.

My (unscientific) theory; local rates generally are based on some multiple of cost of living - more specifically average housing costs.  If a typical one room apartment rents in PHX for say, $800 a month, I would expect to see local rates at 20% to 40% of that, or $150 to $300.  So figure average rates for an "average" apartment in-call could be estimated as Rent x .3 = average rate.

Its a fairly practical formula. As it means a hooker needs to book 3-4 clients a month to pay  the rent. All other bookings pay for other stuff...

The higher the real estate market, the higher the rent (or mortgage), but the lower the multiple. So in NY, where rent in Manhattan could be $2,000 to $3,000 a month, I expect rates to be $2,500 x .2 = $625, give or take about 20% (range $500 - $750).

Like I say, not scientific, but it's been a fairly reliable method for me when travelling in the US.  Obviously, this is just a general guide. There are all kinds of exceptions (porn stars, high-end providers who cater to rich/elite, specialty providers, etc. vs. street walker, budget hotel hookers, BPage listings, AMP's.).

The double check to this math comes from simply looking at local ads in the main US sites. Not all have rates posted but enough do to form a general idea.
