Have him follow the same procedures that you have all other potential clients follow. If he refuses, he loses.

I suppose you could ask for him to scan/fax and send you a copy of his ID Card (tell him to mask the SSN, no one in their right mind would send that!).  Look closely to see if he is Navy or 'Navy Reserve.' A vice cop who is ALSO in the Navy Reserve could easily use his USNR ID to pose as a customer.

I'm making an assumption that he's young,  If so the simplest thing could be to call for an employment check.  It's common for car dealers, Sears credit dept, etc to call and verify employment before granting credit.  Frequent moves and low salary for young sailors oft show up as low credit scores.  Confirming they are active duty often allows the credit manager to bend the rules and grant the loan because of stable work.

I spent 3 year active army and 4 yrs national guard. You can call the company(military unit) and a low rank soldier will ussually answer. Verification enough. Soldiers are just employees also and there is no problem with contacting there companies.If he spaz's out then thats his problem.

or date-check then I ask the gent to verify his employment. I used to sell cars for 4 years, was a mortgage officer for 2 years, and did Title & Escrow for a year before entering the hobby. I call human resources and ask to verify the gents employment. I don't get salary or anything, just how long he has worked there.

At least this way you know he's not gonna be bringing a set of hidden handcuffs... hopefully... but you are still taking a risk on whether or not the guy is a safe call and should have someone on stand by or use a safe call when you see him.

When I do screen i'd say it's fairly light but lol he hasn't so me thinks even asking his was he on any verification site should him so that's weird. I think he's off to find or has found someone "easier" to deal with as in won't even ask that question lol.

I spoke with her recently and she said that although I should of spoke with her prior to your contact, she was concerned with the way that you approached her on the subject although 9 time out of 10 she would be open to discussing her methods of verification with you.
