There's scientific research that proves children's brains are no where advanced as an adults in terms of decision making skills. I find it interesting that she was an elementary school teacher and the girl was 15 when the relationship started. If the girl was one of her students she couldn't be too bright. She didn't report the relationship until she was 20 and after the teacher told her she was getting married. I think the break up might have been more traumatic than the sex acts.
