First, you need damage control.  If you are confronted by your wife just admit that you were just browsing the site out of curiosity.  In the words of professional criminals, pick a story (better pick a good one) and stick to it! Hopefully, she will be buy your story and just be pissed and suspicious from that point on.  Next, admit that you are a dumb ass for not installing protective features on your computer (password, automatic clear history, etc) and allowing your child to use your computer.  Best of luck!

Hear Chrome is great but use FireFox in private mode at set to never store any links on my PC, and make sure I close it to double clear everything it did not store.  Atomic Web Browser on iPad/iPhone is about the same but you can also require a password to even open the app.  I also close the app in the multitask row for extra protection, & keep the app buried in an obscure folder.

You need to use a computer that you kids don't have access to. Get your own office with a laptop or a desktop computer. Restrict the access so only you have access to the machine.

If you can't do that configure windows or linux so each person is required to login into the system separately. I have a hobby friend who wife busted him 5 times. Their relationship soured as a result and now they are getting a divorce.

That your 15 year old is not your daughter. If so she will tell your wife. That happened to one of my relatives.

There is going to be nothing honest about his conversation with his kid. Do you honestly think he is going to fess up to lying and cheating on his child's mother with hookers? No fucking way is this conversation going to be "honest"

I hate to say this, but the best thing for the OP to do is to cover his tracks by contacting Admin to delete his account, and just hope his kid didn't save or archive any of his posts/reviews. Next step is to have this so called "honest conversation" with his kid and do as much damage control as possible. Who knows, if he is a good enough liar, maybe he can convince the kid that he was just confused about what he saw? Still being that skilled a liar to your own kid is nothing to be proud of. Lets' not forget who was the one lying and cheating here.

You lied, you cheated, and now you are about to get caught. No way to sugarcoat it. The best defense is to destroy the evidence and deny, deny, deny. This won't make you a better person, father or husband, but it might keep you out of divorce court.

did he find you had an account, and then was able to log in and read YOUR profile?

There's a big difference, I think, in what you do to deal with this, depending on which of those happenned.

I'm no longer married.  Just trying to figure out how I explain myself to my kid.
It was ironic that I was checking out his browser history and found out he was looking at porn.
And when I bitched at him about it he brought up my browser history.

ee well that sucks but a few changes could prevent it.

first use a good browser like google chrome (its the best and if anyone would like to argue this then I have all the facts ready.)

Next if my computers history was cleared everyday I would think something was up. You don't it to look like your hiding something. That's why you should use private browsing. This just doesn't record any history so no need to clear it. Learn the short cuts also.

in chrome:
ctrl-shift n open s private browser window
ctrl w closes any currently open tab (push w 5 times to open 5 tabs and one will see them close if you do it fast enough)

You are the adult and the parent..

You can have a very honest conversation with you kid about natural curiosity and while you do not agree or like him looking at porn. You heard about this website and wanted to check it out..

I am always surprised when we teach our children that parents are not human..

you are missing an opportunity to talk to your kid about real life issues..

Having a conversation about it does not condone the behavior but it does open the door for honesty.

NEVER, EVER share your computer with your kids... duh!

Right on Jessica,

Be the parent.  Be the authority.  I would kick my kids ass if I caught them drinking, but I do. Some things are ok when they're old enough to decide for themselves.  Until then its the parents job.  Its not up to your kid to question your behavior, but its up to you to question his.

He knows more about computers than you do. My teenage son broke through my Windows password in 3 minutes with a very simple hack. I only found out when he bragged about it! And it took me 2 hours to figure out how to block the evil backdoor that F-ing Microsoft doesn't tell anyone about.

The good thing is, he didn't see anything too sensitive, and it prompted me to upgrade my computer security. There's a very good (and free) program called TrueCrypt - google it - that will make your computer virtually impenetrable, unless your wife works for Homeland Security. You can also use it to protect your flash drives, external hard drives, etc. There is a learning curve, but once you figure it out, TrueCrypt is simply the best encryption you can get this side of the CIA. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to keep certain files and web browsing activity secret.

You are an adult with all the privledges & responsibilities.

I bought other family members their own computers to keep them off mine.  I've never been "caught".
NEVER turn over a running computer.  Set to delete history on shut down.   It you have to, get yourself a cheap used laptop...

Off the exact topic...  Do not use company equipment or internet to access adult sites.

Lets just say, a couple years ago I had to learn the hard way TER does not automatically log you off after you leave the site. I would suggest you change you Username and Password on the Site. Hey shit happens you just have to learn from your mistakes and hope your wife doesn't find out.

PS Hide any grits in your home lol

So you clicked on a piece of spam and ... walla.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I suggest using my technique. I use a bootable flash drive loaded with knoppix and firefox. It stores NOTHING on the PC -- not even swap -- and wipes its userspace upon shutdown. Even if it fell into the wrong hands nobody would know what it had been used for.

You fire up the PC, booting from the flash drive, use it, shutdown and ... no (local) evidence.

Your ISP, of course, is required by CALEA to keep logs. If you want to avoid those, you need to use an encrypted tunnel to a proxy that eats its own logs.

You must have missed my most recent post.  I' separated from the spouse and am waiting to finalize it.  So I'm not too worried about raising a hair on the wife. More concerned about how to deal with my son.

CCleaner it's freeware. Google it. You can set it to automatically clean everything and overwrite what it deletes so that it can't be recovered even by an expert.

Did most people not read past the initial OPs post? He's NOT married... only worried about what to tell his kid. Someone else had mentioned telling (him?) that a friend sent it as a joke, & you unknowingly clicked on the link. Now, if you were still logged in .... that's a bit more complicated. In the future, set your browser to private browsing... if use Firefox, you can set it, so that every time you shut down the internet, it clears ALL browsing history, including logging you out of any sites you forgot to log out off.

Why didn't have a password?

Probably your answer is we use one comupter. In that case Windows and Mac you acn set up different users with diffrent passwords and protect your stuff form others who use the same computer.

Antoher option is to use Firefox or Safari and configure it not store history. Safari has an option for private browising. I cannot speak about Chrome since I do not use it.

You should always password protect your electronic gadgets if such protection is available on the gadget. If you didn't it is on you.

The best conversation to have depends on your relationship with your son. If you approach it, thinking he doesn't know anything you are doomed because he knows, kids today know lot more than you and I. Do not approach it from maoralistic perspective either, then you will be asked questions you cannot honestly answer. Try to bring it up in a way to get his thoughts and go with flow and figure out on the way.

Okay, Scope cleaned the pretty pistol mouth something good now I can cleanly advise you had the Geek Squad over to help with your PC oooorrrrr just fall down and act like you had a TIA and let him feed you pudding until he gets bored and moves onto bigger and better things like tweeting about his new favorite x-box game.  If all else fails, kill him.

but this could get used against you.  Bringing it up with your son might be worse than letting it be.  Just knowing you have BEEN TO adult sites, is NOT the same as PROVING, say adultry, or cheating.  You are soon to be single...  now living alone...  so in your loneliness you look at pictures.
It was careless of you.  SLOPPY.  If you ever will have your child at your home, you can not be careless again.
Best Wishes,

At age 15, your son has a right not to be snooped on. You certainly have that right too.  You can have a talk with him in which you say that you would like to agree to respect each other's privacy, going forward.  He is likely to agree, and to feel more respected by you as a result. If his father treats him with respect, he is more likely to feel that he deserves to be treated with respect by others.

As far as his looking at porn goes, you can tell him that it is natural for him to be curious about sex.  You can tell him that most of the sex shown in porn is "pounding", and that most women don't want to be pounded all the time.

As far as you going to a prostitution site goes, I would suggest not lying to him about it. You can either just say nothing, or say that you have a right to privacy and leave it at that.  Or, if you wish, you can point out that you are not currently in a committed relationship right now (since you and your wife are separated).

But your son cares a lot less about your relationship with your wife than he does about your relationship with him.
