Grew up there and go back often to visit and yeah the humidity does suck. Now the desert is hot and I don't give shit about people saying it is a dry heat. It is still hot as hell. Spent last August in Vegas.

If you are not in a rural area, get a nice hotel stay in the AC and party it up. You really should sample some local southern hospitality. She will be there when you get back.

I prefer more arid climates myself. Wonder if i could get a PYT to put me up in said climate zones till i get on my feet?

Growing up in CA. has spoiled me on climate for sure. San Diego is,by far,the best climate i've experienced to date.

Bring her. Bring shorts and sandals. Don't expect it to be cold at night. You are right. It will hot and muggy with no breeze at all, unless it rains. Then it will be more humid, and even more muggy after the sun comes back out.

Drink lots of water. Wear a neck cooler, or stay inside, in the A/C. Really though, once you get used to the climate, if you are an outdoors person, you will find yourself forgetting about it. Like the cool weather at night in the mountains, it's just there.

I grew up in Virginia and North Carolina, and I just visited California. I agree, the weather there is perfect. Have fun with your lady friend, if she will come with you.

One time went to St. Louis for some logistics and profile training for my old job. The guy who was training me, his secretary 'volunteered' to entertain me while I was there.

Did a lot of drinking. Saved the labels for my expense report because it was easy to peel them off. Got back to the hotel at around 5AM and had to be there for training at 7.

I learned the term 'yawning in technicolor' after said training.

Was supposed to fly back that day, but she invited me to stay the rest of the weekend!

Why in the world NOT?  A birthday present for her, a diversion for you while your there.  And while NC in July isn't the best of options there's worse.  AL, MS, LA, and FL in July come to mind.  They especially come to mind because it looks like I'll have to head to AL in late July.
