I listen mostly to the 60's on 6 on Sirius radio.  Except for certain singer which I choose to ignore.  Then I listen to the 70's, or the Sirius classic vinyl channel.

Because the "old days" is a somewhat fluid concept depending on how old the respondent is.   There are probably just as many people here who think the old days are the 40's as there are the 90's, and yet there is nearly a two-generation difference.  Lol

The 80s is perhaps the least liked -- some good stuff but over all I'd say other decades produced better overall.

and early '70s, pre-disco.

Groups like the Rolling Stones, Beatles, and The Who will never come along again.

To music from the 70's on Spotify, Pandora, and Sirius XM 70's station.  Occasionally, I will listen to music from the 60's and 80's.

LOL

Did you ever see the lapel MAD buttons? Musicians Against Disco. (Was that perhaps the worst thing Travolta and the Bee Gees ever did to the world -- popularize Disco ;-)

I did like Blondie's Parallel Lines (and never really considered it disco) but read a bio type article a few years back saying they were treated by some of the other punk musicians as having sold out to disco with that album. Made me want to hear what they were doing before getting famous but could not find anything online. I suspect any vinyl will be hard to find as well.

It's my personal favorite." From what movie?

Actually, I like music from many eras and genres, from the 30s until today. I do enjoy when they play the old Casey Kasem American Top 40 shows from the 70s. I remember listening to those as a kid.

The 80's were awesome and probably my favorite decade of music.

There are great songs from every era.  You just have to sift through a lot of dung.

of the hippie "free-love" generation . . . .  mamas and papas, 5th generation, carpenters, et al.   I like that music too, but I don't talk about it because people will think I'm a "bad" Republican.  Lol

There's a non-profit community station in PHX, KWSS 93.9  that does a great mix of 80's 90's, and current that kicks ass.  I'm a musical chameleon depending on mood.  We get KROQ 80's station here as well.
Having worked on-air radio in the 80's, it's special times, but I can go from Punk to Texas Swing without missing a beat.

Plus, going to concerts during the 80's was awesome especially in Hollywood and went to all the US Festivals

Bands like Styx, Rush, The Cars, Boston and then the 80's with more metal like Motley Crue...

Good times.

Still have most of my albums from those days (if anyone still remembers record albums!)

There is some great stuff from every decade. I like a lot of music from the 2000's as well... Shinedown, Evanescence...

Please, just don't make me listen to hip-hop. :)

All of today's hip artists release their stuff on vinyl as well as digital. You can get nice new turntables to fit your price range, and vintage audiophile ones in good shape are highly prized.

That kinda still does it for me. Almost anything from the 60's is good listening.

all genres of music with the exception of rap (which doesn't even qualify as music as far as I'm concerned). But the best "era" for me is definitely the late 60's/early 70's. Almost everyone was putting out good, creative, original stuff (rock in particular.) It's been all downhill since the mid 70's when big record companies took more and more control of the industry, depriving the artists of their own creative freedoms and bringing us to where we are today. The output is nothing more than watered down, homogenized pop garbage with synthesized drums/percussion that's devoid of any soul or feeling. Give me Frank Zappa (second greatest guitarist ever) or Jimi Hendrix (THE greatest) over any of today's garbage and I'm a happy man.

Great sex music.  However, if I ever had the opportunity to meet with the OP I would go late 60's and early 70's.  Her tan lines take me back to halter tops, beads, headbands, peace signs, and great sex.

Only if it was underground (The Exploited, Slayer,Obituary). 60s and 70s were pretty good, 90s were awesome until Curt Cobain died.

. . . that the 80s didn't happen just 20 years ago and that there are a lot of people who consider that decade "vintage."

OK, going to step out for a bit, gotta make sure that onion is securely tied to my belt . . .

that morphed into a genre the name of which escapes me right now, but it had elements of punk and disco.

One such group was known as Diesel-Boy.   I still like to listen to them.

Have not heard of them. Looked for the name and find a band that seems to be from the 90s. Is that the one or was where one that dates back to the 70s?

If I listen to something I should at least try to listen to what is being recommended/mentioned lol

Recently one of my radio stattions started playing 'oldies' but didn't go back far enough to the music of my youth.
I also have listened to Sirius 60s on 6. Interestingly, one of their DJs is 'Cousin Brucie' who was doing the same thing at that time in New York when I was growing up. It's like he's been frozen in time. Sounds the same!

'Old Days' by Chicago. Saw them a while back here in Albuquerque with Huey Lewis. My mom and I went. She was the designated driver cuz I have a thing about drinking and she just likes to do things with her babies. Saw the Eagles with her, too. My sister and I did the Journey and Def Leppard concerts and inicky46 and I saw Eric Clapton at Madison Square Garden a few years ago. mrfisher and Beverly Fisher declined even though it was on my dime, but they dropped us off and picked us up after they ate at some steak house. I do alright... ;)
