Firefox 3 fix for

I had posted a warning yesterday regarding Firefox Version 3.  Firefox v 3 will not accept the installation of the "Search on TER" plugin and will disable the plugin during the upgrade from v 2.

Just to be clear since there was some confusion before, the plugin I'm talking about is the one you can download from the Review menu section that allows you to highlight names, phone numbers, or email addresses - right click, and then search on TER for reviews right from the site you are on.  I use it all of the time and love it, so I was seriously bummed that it didn't work.

I have found a fix for this, but it requires changing some security features in Firefox. This fix works, but, of course, changing the security features are completely up to each person.  The problem stems from the fact that Firefox defaults to only accepting updates from secure sites, so the change allows plugin downloads from sites that aren't, which, it seems, Firefox v 2 allowed.

These are the steps if you want to try it:

1. Enter ‘about:config’ into address bar, hit go

2. Right click somewhere in the list of keys below.  Select New->Boolean

3. Enter ‘extensions.checkUpdateSecurity‘ as the name

4. Select false as the value

5. Attempt installation of your plugin.

Good luck

Don't seem to work on OSX 10.5.4 either. Can't load the plugin.
