I want to go on record right now that EVERY ONE of my reviews are a figment of my imagination. I had a great time making them up and if anyone caught my review of PlaymateAshley and the resulting uproar on the LA board, don't you all feel foolish!!

This is my story and I am sticking to it.

An article in the local newspaper about a child porn ring being uncovered.  The LE arrested many people and then went to internet sites and located all the people with subscriptions in order to question them.

That got me to thinking about this site.  What if a provider were arrested and the LE got to their website and then to the review boards and then to the hobbyists reviews.  Could they come after the hobbyist?  After all the reviews state specific details and prices.

Maybe an attorney out there can calm my fears.

Are you the Original JP?

Any way that was OperationCandyman and was run out of Yahoo Clubs. They solicit emails from the club, I belive over 7000 in the US alone. TER and other boards are not on the Grand Evil List like pedophiles, IMHO. Orange CO has enough problems with Kline and other pervs, maybe that will keep them busy?

If you read the disclaimer  when you enter this site. It clearly states that this is for  entertainment value and that this is FICTION.

If LE convinced a judge to grant a supeona the TER records could be fair game. A second supeona would be needed to get our AOL/Yahoo, etc   info. Anything is possible. This is the US. If LE Did get the info, we would all claim that the information that we wrote was ficticious and made up. They would have a very hard time proving anything. They could use the info to legally harrass us. I think they have other things to keep them busy. They know if they go after a site like this thye  will have a long legal battle, one they dont want to fight

You mean this isn't a trading card game?  I was very sure the reviews I was writing were helping all of my characters gain plenty of points..

Of course the reviews are fiction.  If they were real, why would you bother typing them in ;)

From what I understand (altho hey I could be wrong...it's happened, once in a while), things written on message boards like this are *hearsay.*  There would be a number of steps to go thru to prove *who* any poster is... ie: who was the person who signed up via the email account... was that person the person who actually owns the email account... are the person who eventually posted under the account and the person who actually signed up for the account, the same person? See above if you need a quick example of how other people post under other peoples names *all* the time.  Those are all jumps they'd have to take, BEFORE they could say any online communication is admissable as evidence in a court of law.  And that's before we even get to the "is this factual information" part of the proof.  It'd be a whole buncha hoops for LE to jump through and *may* be considered too troublesome to bother with. That said, I do believe they can use reviews as a jumping point for figuring out who to target, but that they then need to come up with real life PROOF to back up their allegations.

FWIW, this is what I've been told.
And each of my reviews is fiction, of course, but makes for some *fun* reading! ;)

This is obviously something for levendi to respond. However, beyond all of the hoops cited by Nicole, the posters would have to make self-incriminating statements, and then be available for cross-examination by defense attorneys if brought to trial. Gee, don't we still have a 5th amendment, or is that sacrificed too to fight the terrorists? Doesn't seem very likely, especially since many the hobbyists participating on this site have significant financial resources and would be lawyered-up.

Besides which, there are frequent complaints about the veracity of numerous postings (self-reviews/bogus reviews). I would bet a number of reviews could never be tracked down or verified.
