It's devastating to be rejected because you're a provide. However, at the same time, it's his right to choose the lifestyle he wants, and if he wants monogamy, that doesn't make him a bad person, nor does it make her a bad person. First, there are often conflicts between careers and relationships. This isn't limited to providers by any means. Law enforcement, military, scientists, executives, etc. ALL run into relationship issues with career. Moreover, women with such careers often have serious troubles at home for various reasons I won't go into.

I also don't think you can conflate the legal acceptance of the profession with men becoming accepting of their intimate partners sharing their bodies professionally. IMO, men's egoes will evolve much more slowly than our legal system and societal mores.


For the record, I will make a (likely) unpopular statement about providers and long-term intimate relationships.

Everything we do as human behavior, we do because it gets us something we need. Even if that behavior is dysfunctional. Yep #2.  But you seem to only see conjecture from one narrow side.  For example:  “Throw in a few abuse cases (probably because he caught her cheating)”.  It would NEVER be because he was drinking too much or she didn’t bring him back enough money.  No, you find a way absolve “him” once again even for abuse.  Do you really not see how judgmental YOU are being?  Probably not.

Shouldn’t we all still be learning?  I spend time there to try and balance points of view like yours, and yes, to share what I have found in this business.  This is a diverse subculture and you are not as all knowing as you believe you are (or want to have others believe).  Most my posts there are mundane.  I can only think of one particularly contentious thread I posted on over there and it was removed.  Odd that’s the one that you focus on.

Why?  Because I don’t agree with you?  Wow.  I’ve been at this a lot of years and of all the many people who have actually met me I’m guessing only one would consider me a “menace”.  In his case our society is far better off without him and I’m proud of the little part I played in that case.
