There was, now that I think of it, an episode of Star Trek TNG that dealt with the mother of all trolls, an incredibly evil being named Armus in the first season episode, Skin of Evil.

Below is a link to a truncated version of the episode.  Fast forward to the last few minutes and see how Picard deals with it.

There is another episode, I think it was called Where Silence Has Lease, where they dealt very effectively but in a different manner with a troll named Nagillum.  In that one, silence had a much more effective role in neutralizing the troll as opposed to attempting to reach out to the troll as in the former case. What I don't get is the thrill of posting something idiotic that serves no purpose, not even humor.

Everything's fine until the day after when she's having severe belly pain.  
Her family is worried, but the surgeon doesn't looked fazed.
He shoos them out and tells her in private:  
-Ma'am, I know a lady like you in your generation may feel it's inappropriate to pass gas, especially in front of others. I'm here to tell you that it's okay and it's probably what's causing your belly to hurt.
-Really?  
-Yes, ma'am.  
The lady closes her eyes and suddenly lets out a huge fart that literally lasts five seconds, including multiple after-staccatos. Her face was filled with indescribable joy. Her belly pain was gone. Afterward, the surgeon learned the lady had been holding that fart for days.
