A few recent threads have brought me to ask the following question: how many of the hobbyists here actually act in real life as they do here?  I'm willing to bet that at LEAST 60% wouldn't dare act like they do here.

Just my .02

I don't discuss the hobby with RL people, obviously, but I do conduct my affairs with some modicum of good will and communal spirit, which I like to think I display on here

and that's all that I yam.   I wouldn't know how to act any other way.  I have run into the same in a SL type site. People act and talk like billy badass, but its a freakin computer game that you can't even throw a punch in...really?

but I am pretty damn close.

BTW I am NOT a "hobbyist" I don't sugarcoat things IRL any more than I do so here. I am a "whore mongering pig" and don't you forget it (in my best Quick Draw McGraw voice. lol)

Act EXACTLY as they do on the boards as in real life. Some good and nice, polite and clean while the others are complete and utter shitdicks whose own mothers probably took up the ghost to escape the shame of their spawn.

In case anyone was wondering, I lighten up BCD, I can be nice...hardly as morbid and creepifying.

as I am on here. You'd have to ask those I've met to know for sure (as would I).

There is no fucking way anybody on any board would be able to
pick me out in a bar or wherever and and say:

"Hey, there is that asshole "poster" from TER!

This is my pretend world! I'm practically "Jason Bourne"

Imagine, posters on a monger board not as aggressive offline as they are here ? Ever hear of an "internet tough guy", genius. ? Syndrome that's been around for at least 20 years. I'm an even more obnoxious asshole offline than I am here !

f you and the other notorious trolls here were even more obnoxious in real life, you'd all be in traction.. or worse.

There are actually legit studies about this (no, I'm not going to look them up and link them.. use Google)  The simple truth is that since these board are somewhat anonymous, I say somewhat because I and others have met some of our TER posters IRL, for most posters it is an opportunity to add their two cents completely anonymously.  Some here have posting persona that displays deep insecurity.  In my experience internet tough guys (or gals) are just that, tough when they are anonymous, but weak IRL.  The keyboard warrior persona has exploded in this day of internet forums.  It's a nonstop delivery of garbage on some sites.  At least here we do have some interesting conversations, although sometimes I scratch my head and think, “really”, sheesh!  LOL  It's also easy to be a troublemaker when no one will look you in the eye and say "just stop the BS". It is easy to be a BMOC and be a bully behind the shield of the internet.  Trolls who sit anonymously behind the keyboard and throw “mud” on others are simply pathetic losers imo, although let's be honest, sometimes they are  fun to laugh at.  Like GaG, I can be a ass sometimes,  but then that is exactly what you get from me IRL.  I'm gracious to anyone who behaves responsibility and am harsh to rude, condescending bullies.

We have an example of a keyboard warrior on several threads today. He (if really a he, there is some doubt about this) always uses an "alias" on this and other TER boards and  “runs” around insulting many.  If he is like that IRL, he must spend a lot of time with ice packs.  hahahaha

Obviously, a trained & accredited behavioral scientist. Your keen powers of perception are quite uncanny. You run a "psych advice stand" with Lucy ?

Hey, anyone want to fight?

What I find really hilarious are the alias tough guy posters who actually make physical threats to other people also hiding behind an alias, usually from the safety of living several states away.

Some times too dumb to breathe, most times quite, polite and respectful. I am helpful to a fault and have a low tolerance for disrespect,  towards others or me.

If it would be advantageous if more did that for you, nest ce pas ? Since you're a behavioral scientist, look up the "delusion of adequacy syndrome" in the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual.

The way I behave depends on the hat I am wearing. I am harder at work than at home. I swear more here than I do at work or at home. I am still me but I conform to the demands placed on me based on what is expected and if I have reason to give a damn. Here I have no reason to give a damn and standards are so damn low here as to be laughable. I would never allow a work memo to go out with out having it proofed for errors first. I just don't care that much here. I am who I am no matter what, just some places get a more polished version of me. This is the gutter trash me who isn't caring to impress. Please don't mistake not caring to impress with not caring at all. If I didn't care at all I wouldn't post at all.
