So here it is, a little more than an hour ago, I am shopping for a Xmas gift in this local shopping mall(necessary evil). I am looking at men's jackets at the rack when 2 different shopping carts strike me almost simultaneously in the legs. One woman was asian with an asian entourage and the other woman was muslim with a matching entourage. The muslim woman left a bruise the size of Nebraska on my left leg incidently. So anyway, there is no forthcoming "sorry" or "my mistake" or anything other than indignant glares eminating from both faces(the muslim woman had eyes of fire, that's all I could see). So, they are not even shopping at the very place they park their carts, they apparently just want a place to stow their goods. So after the appropriate brewing time I thought I would share my holiday spirit with each of them! I began to take things out of each of their carts and stuff the bogus booty underneath other items, so as to go unnoticed. I continued my shopping and to my delight I saw the muslim woman at the checkout arguing with the cashier about the bogus goods she had just been charged for that came courtesy of your humble author. I began, in my rather unique way, to sing "Happy Holidays" as I strolled on by, and all was right with my world once more. I can only hope that the asian clan found my gift to be as stimulating as the muslim clan did!

Since you did not cause any damage or cause anyone to lose money, but rather just inconvenienced some one that was rude,
you did the right thing.  Just like the time that a driver would not move over from the left lane.  When she tried to so she could use an the last exit in one state, I was there and she ended up going over a bridge into the next state.

messing with somone's cart who'd hit you w/o apologizing is alright.  however, messing with another driver on the road is not, no matter if they were inconsiderate to you.  other lives are at stake.  terrible comparison

It seems more common. In the old days, communities were small so everyone had to be nice.  Now, we have everyone out for themselves.  It's sad but true

I am evil. Ask half of the girls I have reviewed.

Anyway, I would have arranged something even more troubling, if throwing a fit on the spot didn't blow off enough steam (grimmacing, howling in pain, shouting victimized comments while writhing on the floor).

Perhaps some adult toys hidden in her trove. Perhaps something leftover from a food court plate. Perhaps little love notes stuffed into the pockets of some clothing purchases.

Ho Ho Ho.

Love the way you think. Of course, their background is not relevant. Everyone is rude today, so they needed a rude awakening. To me though, the prank works best if they know you did it!! Ah, the new craze, store rage.

I think I just wanted to paint the picture just as it happened, I was a little bit ticked at the bruising too I guess. It doesn't matter one iota to me what their race was, I would have reacted just the same. I think I might have actually enjoyed the payback much more had they been yuppies to tell the truth. But it was much more fun for me personally to have them wonder what had happened to them at the cashier, the shock and dismay followed by anger and gestures was really a Kodak moment. I'm glad some of you enjoyed my adventure, it was therapeutic to talk about it. Race wasn't meant to be such a factor in the story, it was described just as it happened. No offense was intended

hmmm...Both Asians and Muslims have a history of racism and ethnocentrism that go way back.
Recently, I was not allowed to go to a funeral of a Mulsim friend because I am unclean (not a Muslim).
Perhaps that is what you were feeling? Anyway, it's ok to say that you don't like a culture because that is a human invention, whereas physical features are not. Making fun of people for how they physically look is dead wrong.
Anyway, being censored on the TER board or even feeling that way is a joke!!

SirPrize:

Where do you get off calling me that? Who do you think you are judging me like that? I told a story about two people in a marketplace. I described them in a way that you view as politically incorrect, so you call me a bigot? I didn't judge their ethnicity, I judged their behavior and I tried to give everyone a smile about how I rectified the situation. I have never called anyone a slur in my entire life so you can just eat your words. You are the person who rushes to judgment between the two of us. I never would call you a bigot as I dont know who you are and because I happen to be a decent person. Look up all my past posts and see if you find me to be a hostile sort as you are painting me to be. Good luck with that

Happy Holidays

"Anyway, being censored on the TER board or even feeling that way is a joke!!"

I couldn't agree more with you on this. Being an American Indian(I prefer that to Native American for the pc on this board) I would know all about racial insensitivity. I am surprised that some were offended by my story as it was not racially offensive. I would bet that had another more well known poster provided that very story, there would have been nobody offended at all. Let's please TRY to keep this site less clique-ish than TBD. Show tolerance for newer posters and don't assume that they are bigots because they wrote something you think is borderline offensive. I am not trying to offend anyone!
Geesh

I am a third German, Polish, and American Indian. So, I am really none of these things at all! This is the case with many Americans. I see this as the ultimate goal of America. People that hold on the there ethnic identity in my opinion are prejudice. Some groups do that more than others.

By identifying the race, religion, weight, age, etc. in a story where it really doesn't change the content of the story, it implies that the specific identification had something to do with it.  Which means, in your story, that because they were asians or muslims, they were rude.

What would your reaction have been if two really, really hot chicks did the same exact thing to you?  Would your actions have been the same?  Just ask yourself that question and the answer will tell you if you are a bigot or not.  ;)  There's no need to tell us the true answer.

I swear to God I have never seen such a witch-hunt in all my life! I thought everyone here was pretty fun and easygoing and would want to enjoy an innocent story that disparaged NOBODY! I am sorry you were offended, ok? Once again, I myself am a minority and in no way, shape or form intended to hurt anyone with that story. I AM SORRY   Is that good enough?

BTW, my actions would have been EXACTLY the same.

If any providers would care to jump in and either condemn me or defend me, I would appreciate to learn what the entire community thinks.

Now you have insulted me because I am a minority. Where is my apology? Where are all the shrieks of self-righteous indignation when it comes to my defense? You can't have it both ways. That would make you a hypocrite-bigot.

Do you guys see how ridiculous that looks?  But by some of the pc rules around here you should get torched alongside of me. Whatever happened to decency? McCarthyism lives it would appear

Did you discuss religion? Could she have been a Persian Jew or Iranian Catholic?

Was she wearing traditional Muslim garb? If so, how familiar are you with it? Could you have mistaken her dress for another type of people who wear head coverings?

Not saying that you are intentionally bigoted, just saying that the way you described an asian woman with her asian entourage and a Muslim woman with her matching entourage, instead of just two women with friends, makes me question whether it was truly an innocent description or an attempt to spice up the story with prejudice, even if unintentional.

Sometimes we are not even aware of our own bigotries.

Interesting story, one quick question though...

You alluded in your story, then in a subsequent post that at least one of the women got angry and, implied that she argued with / yelled at the cashier.  I assume since this person you already characterized as rude then took her anger at your "get even" on the cashier, the cashier too had done something to you that you deemed deserved this resulting scene, and most likely beratement from this woman, and depending on the woman's reaction possibly a manager?

Seems to me the only person that really ended up on the loosing end of your retribution was the cashier, someone who more than likely already has more than their fair share of stress working retail during the "Holiday Shopping Season".

The real difficulty in meteing out retribution, is assuring it effects only the one it is aimed at, and that its quality and quantity fit the perceived offense.  I don't know that a cashier getting berated and chewed out by an irate customer, and possibly their boss actually fits that criteria for you being smacked by a shopping cart weilded by said customer.....but hey, so long as you felt better....right?

When I first read your story, I almost wet myself from the uncontrollable laughter.  Then, I read all the PC stuff about bigotry, and felt bad that I was amused.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm a dirtbag, but it's a funny story and you brought a little happiness to my otherwise stressful day.
