Doxy Pep & Prep

Doxy Pep can be given within 72 hrs. PEP works by preventing bacterial infections when taken shortly after potential exposure to STIS.

Prep - PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis): is an HIV-negative medication that, when taken as directed, is 99% effective at preventing HIV. Emtricitabine

- Those who engage in condomless sex or have multiple partners.

- Individuals who feel they are at higher risk.

* If your healthcare is able to utilize these resources I am all for extra protection. After doing research 🧐 the cost for these added measures out of pocket are very expensive, so consider that fun fact if you don’t have excellent health insurance. I think this is good advice for anyone who has high risk & do not use condoms.

Has anyone here been on Pep &/or Prep - emtricitabine?

I am curious about the shot option once a month.  The side effects alone are a lot to factor. Please share positive vibes only. I know Prep was posted previously. I am interested in those who do use Pep & or Prep for longer periods of time. Side effects? Benefits are obvious, but feel free to elaborate. Thanks!

Doxy PEP is actually quite cheap - thru an online pharmacy like telyrx.com - U.S.-based and perfectly legitimate.  Less than $50 for script and pills for multiple treatments (no insurance involved).  They also have Truvada (emtricitabine) for a reasonable cost, but that may not be something people feel comfortable taking with an online prescription.  I'm sure there are also many other ways to get these drugs at a more reasonable cost; e.g. public health organisations and other online pharmacies.  I've used TelyRx - no issues and fast shipping.

I appreciate the recommendations. I am not here to judge. I realize BBFS & raw happens everywhere it’s not uncommon. Regardless of anything else it’s always good to be aware of all the options available.

People have SO’s and they don’t use condoms in their relationships. Unprotected sex is common. It doesn’t matter what age you are. The best thing you can do is whatever is best for yourself & your lifestyle.

I’m looking up your websites. Thanks!

I've been looking into Doxy-Pep and PreP on these sites:

It looks like I have to be stateside to sign up for both and will 99% likely do that once I'm back on tour and can do the consult and ask my million questions. I don't raw dog but it's never a bad idea to have extra protection.... and if it's extremely low cost/free and only has minor side effects, then it's a no-brainer.🤷🏻‍♀️

Even though people say prep (not doxy, doxypep is just a proactive antibiotic in this case and it will make your body build up tolerance to things like gonorrhea) is harmless, it does hit liver and kidneys hard. So it's not just harmless get-out-of-jail card.

I suggest if anyone wants to do prep, is to do a lot of research and if you have any liver or kidney problem, you really should talk to your doctor.

From what I've read, Doxy-Pep can be taken in a lower daily dose (100mg vs the 200mg occasional use) without negative side effects on the body or creating antibiotic resistant STIs.  I've read that PreP can be some version of taxing on the liver/kidneys but without underlying/preexisting issues, it's relatively inconsequential and quarterly labs are recommended to monitor just in case. I'd love to know if I'm missing important info before I decide on starting the protocols.

There is also prep on demand, which can work in a pinch or even for accidental post exposure.

Not a bad idea to be on or at the very least, have some ready for those oh shit moments

Hello QB,

My provider recommended the link below. It's super convenient. Yep, you will need excellent insurance for this!

For those considering doxycycline, I recommend trying it once before using in the real world. I've never had allergies, but I broke out in painful, itchy hives after taking. Of course, YMMV!

for free prep and doxypep. just note that the injectable prep interferes with benzos (lorazepam, alprazolam, diazepam, etc) and ketamine, so if you partake in any of those then definitely speak to a doctor before starting injectable prep.

I'm not a doctor but as far as I know the  overuse of ANY antibiotic can lead to resistant strains of bacteria.

There was a study out of Tokyo that followed a very small sample of women for a year that showed otherwise but I didn't bookmark it🙄 I recall it because it went against that 'common sense' thing about developing resistant strains.

Several other studies discussed the issue with resistant strain development is that if the meds are taken religiously, the bug never has a chance to survive and become resistant but if the study participant skipped doses then the bug could indeed survive and mutate.

For example, I am now highly allergic to penicillin. And, no, I was not taking it to treat syphilis.
