Doxy PEP is actually quite cheap - thru an online pharmacy like telyrx.com - U.S.-based and perfectly legitimate. Less than $50 for script and pills for multiple treatments (no insurance involved). They also have Truvada (emtricitabine) for a reasonable cost, but that may not be something people feel comfortable taking with an online prescription. I'm sure there are also many other ways to get these drugs at a more reasonable cost; e.g. public health organisations and other online pharmacies. I've used TelyRx - no issues and fast shipping.

People have SO’s and they don’t use condoms in their relationships. Unprotected sex is common. It doesn’t matter what age you are. The best thing you can do is whatever is best for yourself & your lifestyle.
It looks like I have to be stateside to sign up for both and will 99% likely do that once I'm back on tour and can do the consult and ask my million questions. I don't raw dog but it's never a bad idea to have extra protection.... and if it's extremely low cost/free and only has minor side effects, then it's a no-brainer.🤷🏻♀️
Even though people say prep (not doxy, doxypep is just a proactive antibiotic in this case and it will make your body build up tolerance to things like gonorrhea) is harmless, it does hit liver and kidneys hard. So it's not just harmless get-out-of-jail card.
I suggest if anyone wants to do prep, is to do a lot of research and if you have any liver or kidney problem, you really should talk to your doctor.
From what I've read, Doxy-Pep can be taken in a lower daily dose (100mg vs the 200mg occasional use) without negative side effects on the body or creating antibiotic resistant STIs. I've read that PreP can be some version of taxing on the liver/kidneys but without underlying/preexisting issues, it's relatively inconsequential and quarterly labs are recommended to monitor just in case. I'd love to know if I'm missing important info before I decide on starting the protocols.
There was a study out of Tokyo that followed a very small sample of women for a year that showed otherwise but I didn't bookmark it🙄 I recall it because it went against that 'common sense' thing about developing resistant strains.
Several other studies discussed the issue with resistant strain development is that if the meds are taken religiously, the bug never has a chance to survive and become resistant but if the study participant skipped doses then the bug could indeed survive and mutate.

For those considering doxycycline, I recommend trying it once before using in the real world. I've never had allergies, but I broke out in painful, itchy hives after taking. Of course, YMMV!
