The husband bit is probably achievable, but sadly, like so many professional women she's left it too late and the chances of her getting pregnant are pretty low.
Modern science is changing that, for better or for worse. There was an article in the papers several years ago about a 60+ year old grandma in Italy carrying a child. If I remember correctly, she was a surrogate for a younger woman that could not carry the child. A forty year old woman would seem a babe (pardon the pun) by comparison.
Not the same issue. The 60 year old italian women didn't 'get pregnant', she simply had an already fertilised embryo implanted in her uterus and this was done so she could bear and raise a child. The elderly surrogate was a South African women who carried twins (or maybe even more) for her daughter - again, using already fertilised embryos.
The fertility of a 40 year old women is 1/6 that of a 25 year old, or to look at it another way, each month, assuming the couple is having sex regularly and at the right time, there is a 5% chance of conceiving. Then of course there is the risk of miscarriage. This climbs to between 50-75% for women 40 and over.
about this story may be that it's a woman posting the billboard. Men, sadly, have been doing this sort of thing for years; there's a story like this concerning guys about twice a decade. What's sadder still is that the guys usually get loads of responses. If they had a grain of sense, they'd auction themselves off as husbands/wives on eBay to the highest bidder.
The fertility issue, however, is a dead serious one. About all I can add to what's been said is that the business of selling fertility to apparently barren couples is exploitative, cruel and slipshod. BT. DT.
God Bless her...Our best friends (in their 40's) just delivered a happy n healthy boy...with Down's syndrome. Tragically, these guys are just about the nicest couple on the planet. The years ahead are going to be tough on everyone...I'd think twice before conceiving "later" in life dearie.
To set the record straight, many babies live fairly normal lives. To suggest otherwise may be a bit short-sighted. While not optimal, they have a fighting chance. Please share that sentiment with your friends.
