I'm leaving the TER boards as a poster.   I concede, it seems more people want me to leave than want me to stay.   That was never my intention of course to annoy people....I thought posting interesting or thought provoking stuff would be fun.....but these things take on a life of their own, and the "spirit" or mob mentality can influence and distort things tremendously.

I have never and will never say anything bad or negative about a provider BY NAME or Identity....on these boards.  I have never argued for or against deposits.   Regarding crypto, I merely started a discussion thread where I put forth the idea that cryptocurrency is a viable option in many situations, and it is here to stay.   I do not flat out say that every provider has to accept it.   I have always respected and appreciated the trouble that providers must go to in order to run their businesses.   And in talking about being in a wheelchair and the issues that come up with seeing providers, I was never ever trying to "set up" anyone for anything, in terms of legal trouble, that was just absurd crap started by people who were generally annoyed with me anyway about other things, mostly my wordiness.

This is a great website for a lot of reasons and for a lot of roles/uses.   I myself am disabled, I work from home most days, I cannot hear well due to hearing loss, so I spend a LOT of time on both my PC and my laptop.  I work off both computers, so it is very easy to spend a lot of time here, toggling back and forth, etc.   That's one of the reasons my posts are so long and I have so many of them  .   Plus, as a single man, who wouldn't WANT to spend a lot of time here on TER?!?  I still have not seen all there is to see or read.

But for what it's worth, I am sorry to any and all who I genuinely truly pissed off.  No one wins or gains when that happens....I admit I am guilty of being both naive and pretty stubborn on some things.   Please know I have no lasting hard feelings towards anyone here, and I have a lot of good feelings towards many.

where you blew it . . . . . not on the long posts, not on the stupid posts, and not on the posts with misinformation.  You lost most everyone when you said you would never, ever write a review. This is a review site.  With that one statement, you transformed yourself from a potential brother to a lurker, and most lurkers are regarded as trolls on a board like this.  It's like a guy who can't boil water posting on a gourmet chef's board.  Good luck to you, anyway, wherever you land.  

Why not tone some things down for a bit until everyone gets used to how you are?

 
You're not the first person that came on the board all fired up and rar'n to go as it were who got bad reactions from a number of people. Even though I though some of your earlier posts were intentionally trying to stir things up, and not in a posative, humorous way, I honestly have not been getting that sense recently -- maybe because I'm not paying attention but that works too. You're hardly the worst person that came here and got a bad initial reception. Most are still around and everyone settled into a either a quiet toleration of one another (most of the time) or actually got used to one another and the initial bad vibe disappeared.

While I prefer those who write reviews and help, not doing this alone, for me, doesn't disqualify one from contributing to the boards. If I feel someone is contributing well to the boards and is reasonable, I can live with it. But I didn't feel this way about Gus. I do not think he is a bad guy. But there is some disconect. The long posts was one thing. Then the stubborn arguing when things were pointed out. But the icing for me was a feeling of disconnect. I felt Gus had a different way of seeing things and didn't really connect with others who see things differently. In some ways I felt bad for him because I think his intentions were good and he was trying in his way. But sometimes it just doesn't work.

I enjoyed your posts even though I did agree with all your view points like "sex with women is like masturbation" , I ended up with big forearms as a result. That is why I am in the hobby now, sex with a woman is much better.

Studies have concluded that it's not psychologically healthy to spend a lot of time on social media. Spend time outdoors. Meditate. Watch some movies. [I recommend the "Game of Thrones" series.] Listen to music. Find a hobby. Engage in whatever physical activity you are able. Have enjoyable in-person conversations. Read a book.  

But let me start by saying in general it's better not to announce your departure. Just leave and don't be dramatic. More to the point: I don't know why you've let people get under your skin to the point where you feel you've got to leave. I, too, think your posts were over-long but that's not a big deal. I agreed with some things you wrote and disagreed with others. No big wup.
But this board, as you found out, is a combative place. I always called it The Monkey House, where the inhabitants fling their poo at each other. In fact, it used to be MUCH worse. Many have been so intimidated by it that they never posted at all. In your case, you have let the haters drive you off and that's unfortunate.
Perhaps you should just take a break and come back with a different handle, using what you've learned.

And non-asshole new blood too.

I think there are many people who enjoyed your posts. A few didn't but you can't please everyone.  

 
And the hobby can be lonely. I cannot even imagine what it's like when you have a disability. You're also new to this and when I was new to this a long time ago I was also awkward in my posts.  

 
While I certainly argued with you on crypto side, I always argue with everyone so if I offended you or was condescending - I didn't really mean it.

This is your decision of course but I'd reconsider. There are people here who dont mind and like your posts, people who stood up for you and think you have good intentions.  

 
I personally don't let people who don't like me get to me. And I'm a grade A asshole. You're a good guy. I don't know. While I'll admit some of your posts I skip over, some of them I enjoyed and thought definitely added color to this often boring and bland board.  

 
If you decided on leaving anyway - good luck. Twas a pleasure.

If not, stay for a while longer. Perhaps people who didn't like you will reconsider their outlook on you. And those who did can still converse with you.

Sorry if you’re leaving due to health reasons! While I prefer to read posts related to one’s experience with providers or their sessions, the occasional comment from a lurker doesn’t bother me. It was your long boring missives that annoyed me the most! You even introduced a few topics that got the peanut gallery involved! If you would just limit your comments to one or two paragraphs laser focused on the topic, I might actually read your comment instead of scrolling to one that interests me more! If you’re leaving due to peer pressure,  don’t let this rag-tag band of erudites drive you into TER obscurity!

I agree Zeel. In the beginning a few very experienced guys, myself included, tried to give Gus some pointers about how to fit in and contribute to the board. His responses were aggressive and condescending, especially when he refused to identify the provider who had ripped him off. It was like he didn’t care about the other gents here and didn’t care if she ripped us off. After that cdl, myself, and others went after him pretty hard because of his responses. It got to the point a few weeks ago where I stopped reading and responding to his posts. It would have been nice if he would have responded differently and maybe he would have been better received by the guys here. In the end we’re just a bunch of mongers exchanging information and trying to enhance one another’s hobby experiences while also keeping one another safe. Oh well.

If you can find a way to get to the point, that would certainly be appreciated.  I've bailed on many/most of your contributions.  But, I personally, appreciate well written, non-combative observations.

Don’t let anyone run you off this board. You are different Gus and thank God for that. It’s the mix of people that make this place fun and unique. I don’t cuss too often but I have to now. Fuck them. Fuck them all. They can skip your posts if they feel the need. Just stay and be yourself. You add quirky views and differing opinions. Nothing wrong with that. Stand strong. Stay!

The is a certain sense of justice or irony to his longest lasting post being his shortest and most concise. And perhaps he will one day (if not already) be added to the list of quirky, annoying and/or amusing members of TER.
