I think this thread was started somewhere, but I can't find it to comment;  anyway, my local FOX news station will be having a piece on a website or sites that rate providers, sounding like TER.  Scheduled for tonite (Thursday, 11/7/2013).
Will be interesting to see what they report.

Its just a long scroll on the screen disclosing your TER handle, real name and home and work contact info gleaned from TER by the NSA.  Nothing to see here folks, just go about your daily lives like nothing is happening.

Can NSA employees delete their own info if they see it before passing it up the chain? :-D

...and if they did, would that constitute treasonous behavior?

I view this kind of journalism as an advertisement of the hobby.

A lot of reports like these are veiled advertisements for sites. When Ashley Madison and Seeking Arrangement were just starting, they concentrated so much on getting themselves on TV under "reports" of the rise of infidelity or the new type of escort.

I wouldn't be surprised if they never mentioned TER. That would show how informed they are.

Will it be the "We're all going to hell in a hand basket and liberals are driving" screed using hobby review sites as proof of the near ruin of America?
Will it be the "All capitalism is good" sermon supporting the small business owner?
Will it be the libertarian "government is stifling so let's leave people to make their own discreet choices"?
Maybe it will be the "This is how a website should work" critique of the Affordable Care Act rollout.

I just can't see Roger Ailes agreeing to air anything other than the first alternative and even a local affiliate doing its own independent story is unlikely to stray far from the Fox HQ diktat.  I'm sure it will be amusing.

The oneline 'grabber' was to the effect of: "Online reviews of prostitutes, why isn't law enforcement cracking down on this?"

ALL live in stone houses. I'm sorry you guys but my opinion is that (in this case), "any press is bad press".

Some folks have a lot to lose by "any press".

I highly doubt Fox is breaking new ground here. Some provider websites and even providers themselves were interviewed for Dirty Money, and nothing ever came of it...no harm, that is.

"Look what's going on and what is LE doing about it."  They mentioned the reviews and an escort that they talked too. They Are playing on the FOX morality parinoia angle and the salaciousness of what is going on here. I'm betting that they'll report on what we do and how "shocking and dirty" it is and then focus on what the cops are doing about it. We'll see tonight at 10.

My only issue with it is that anytime that something like this comes out in the mainstream press it draws unneeded attention to TER and what we have here. Since most of us here value discretion and anonymity, being in the spotlight (although a small market) isn't what we crave.

Hopefully, the only outcome is more new members.

Remember the New York Magazine piece about NYC Meet & Greets?  It did nothing.  Since then there have been about five successful gatherings by two different hosts.
Remember the huge story about the bust of a large agency? Lots of sound and fury but little else, unless you're one of the principals.  BTW, has anyone heard anything about what's going on there? These kinds of stories are a version of the "If it bleeds it leads" pieces.  They grab attention and help ratings.  And most of the people who go, "Tut, tut," also have porn under their beds or see hookers themselves, just like all the bible-thumping ministers who turned out to be whoremongers or gay.  It's all part of the never-ending hypocrisy in this country about sex.  It's annoying but ultimately pointless and funny/sad.

Of course not much will happen because it's just Hartford. It's titillating so it'll get people's attention and hopefully be forgotten tomorrow...except by some guys.

They didn't mention any site names and the reporting wasn't very good either. They did say that most of the police weren't interested in pursuing charges on escorts because it was hard to get enough evidence and it is a very low priority.

On a side note, the escort that they interviewed was one I saw years ago.

Yes, it was true 10 o'clock news fluff;  I also saw Hot Rain a number of years ago.

There is nothing exciting about this story...it's the same old boring bs from an hourly escort working from a mid range hotel. Cheese and Rice...do they not notice the vast differences in the players here? I personally love the street walker and the really high end views...kind of breaks things up. If I see one more documentary about some girl who gets paid by the hour to fk 2-5 guys a day, I am going to literally vomit. Find me a drug addict who shoots up between appts. or a single mom with three kids who is also a nurse whilst doing this on the side, and that's news worthy. This other stuff is beyond boring. Wonder if that guy got his Journalism degree online?

PROS: more people will find out about this hobby and site then join it  so that is good for our TER community

CONS: some unwanted eyes are going to see it from family : parents , wife's , & friends and our not so friend LE

BUT IF WILL ALL CONTINUE OUR PART and submit our reviews and on the providers side return emails or calls regarding the screening process to verify these gentlemen then  we should all be ok and minimize any of the worst case scenarios
