Or is the "me" generation just taking over... a lot of posts lately on both this board and others like the newbie board, indicate a lack of understanding that bottom line, we are paying the ladies for their time, time, time, time... when they show up, they have fulfilled their obligation... assuming no bait and switch etc. they should be compensated for the time slot you have taken.  
Now, I know I sound like one of those f'n white knights, but after hobbying for over 30 years now, it just seems like some folks just do not get it - if they did their homework like good little school children, they would not run into a situation where they have to flee the scene without payment.

We are only paying escorts for their time (wink, wink).  They are not prostitutes (wink, wink).  A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat.  Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more.

We are paying them for what they do during that time.  Just showing up is only part of it.  

What if she has a bad attitude?  I've seen reviews where the provider shows up with the obvious intent of getting in and out quickly, with no interest i providing good service.  We're NOT paying someone to be unfriendly.

Most providers are professional and good-natured and deserve their compensation.  Regardless of what a provider does, if the client decides to "seal the deal" then she MUST be compensated.   However, if she shows up with an obvious "let's get it over with" attitude, the client should not feel obligated to continue or pay her.

If a lady merely shows up; she has NOT completed her obligation. I think the gentleman is well within his rights if he is not happy with her appearance, to end the session immediately. If he wishes to compensate the lady in some way for her troubles of preparing for the meeting he can do so. He should not however feel obligated to pay her the full amount, merely because she "showed up".    

Now, I agree with you that if the lady stays for the session, and the gentleman is not pleased, he has absolutely NO right to take back the compensation. If you hobby enough, you will have experiences were you felt cheated and angered that you outlayed money. Live and learn and move on. If the lady stays for the agreed time, she is entitled to be compensated no matter how poorly the session went.

However, the system is not fool proof. You can do all the "homework" and research you want on a provider, be completely satisfied with your findings and still run into a bad session.

Why does it seem that some members of the "older" generation try to be f'n heros- the simple fact about hobbying is that this is all driven by $... it was like that when you first started and it will continue to be that way long after we're gone....

True, the more research you do,  the better your experiences will be.....  but all BS aside-  yes, we are paying for their "time", but lets not be naive, we know what this is about..... I believe in respect, hobbyists and ladies alike, should respect each other but please don't expect respect when none is given..... if someone tries to take you for a fool, then they're not respecting you.....

I would love to be a provider and schedule an appointment with you- I would show up and 5 minutes later, turn around and leave because according to your line of reasoning, I have fulfilled my obligation.... sound good to you? What if a lady with a good rep did this to you, would you honestly sit there and hang your head and wish her a happy day?

Please stop complaining that everyone doesn't operate like you- if someone f*cks up, why not help them and if they keep messing up then ignore them...... if you're not helping to educate/guide then don't preach...

that point out several issues in the hobby.  The first!  I paid a premium price for a provider for over 4 hours... and almost to the minute at the end of exactly 4 hours, the provider literally threw me out of the room, stating that she had scheduled not one appointment after me, but TWO - and it was 12 midnight!  So while I paid for the time, I really felt short changed, but upon reflection, I realize that the lady just did not enjoy my company!  

The second?  I again paid for 4 hours.  I NEVER felt rushed - and at the end of 4 hours, I was packing up my stuff.  Because while the lady and I truly hit it off on many levels, I did not wish to take advantage of the moment - as I would like, very much, to see her again!  and I would not wish her to think that I "am one of those guys!?"   As I say, very different experience - and totally pleasurable!

Now - want to hear the kicker?  The first lady has an incredible reputation, the second is a first tier provider - but not the national rep. as the first.  So, I never forget.... but I  recognize that there are a whole lot of variables in EVERY single encounter.  I don't really ever feel that I know totally what is gonna happen, so I have limited expectations... and I've hobbied for over 20 years.... with a 10 year hiatus during my marriage.  What DO I expect?  I expect to pay them to leave.... either the ex-wife or the provider!

Well spoken, same type of experience i have had and i have been doing this for over 20 years..as i get older i just appreciate the moment to the max and let it go...

If the lady has a bad attitude or isn't anything like her pictures, then end it immediately so you don't waste each other's time but reimburse her for gas. However, if she is pleasant and what you ordered (pardon the hamburger pun), then have a good time and compensate her for her time.

After having discussed this topic for the past several days, I can only say its ironic that for the first time in my experience, a SOB showed up, said he didn't feel comfortable and left. I told him I had turned down two other appointments in order to see him and expected to be partially compensated for the lost session. He must be channeling some of the a**holes here of course, because his response was that I don't look like my pics - I was actually WEARING the bra and panty set I was photographed in a mere 3 months ago - and wasn't going to pay.

SO anywways, ladies, he is an over the road truck driver, and hobbies quite a bit. Please contact me for his information. He can scrape the bottom of CL from now on in search of a date.

I'm sorry for your bad experience but what this guy did was not justified.  Especially if he's an experienced hobbyist.  If you extended the proper courtesy [and it sounds like you did], then he has no excuse.

However, you seem to want a solution where a provider should get some compensation no matter what she does at the door.  Look at at it from the other side.  I show up at a provider's location.  She gives me a bad vibe for whatever reason [my looks, ethnicity, she had a bad day, etc.,].  Or worse, she's just explicitly hostile.  I'm supposed to owe her at least half right away?

I have to agree with Hardy and dragonfly, this is a business no matter how much sugar coating you can put on it.  You are paying her for her time(wink!)
It is a transaction, but both parties have to come to a consensus. I disagree with the assertion that the provider is entitled to be compensated no matter what her behavior, attitude, etc. If I drive an hour to see a hostile or misleading provider, where is my gas money? Is my time not just as valuable as the providers? If I show up or she shows up and is not what is advertised, I have a right to send her away, gas money or not.

I've only been emphasizing the conditions under which a client can legitimately walk away.

Providers also have the right to turn away clients that they find unappealing.  However, this is not an equitable situation since it is the provider who is out of time AND money while the client loses time but gets to keep his money and can go elsewhere, or just go home and jerk off.

Unless a provider has been long established with a reliable clientele, she is at a disadvantage in here.  Since this is an illegal business in the most of the US, good providers have little recourse but to rely on the integrity of their clients.  There is no way to legally enforce obligations for both parties via contracts or any other means.

I think probability is on the side of the providers though. Except for the occasional asshole client or bad provider, not many clients would take the time to set up an appointment, and then show up only to find an excuse to leave.

YEP!

I consider the money gone BEFORE I even meet them.
Only the non- or poorly researched encounters have been a 'waste' of money.

We're not talking about known bad providers.  They're easy to avoid, and anyone who goes to them expecting good service, except for the first guy to TOFTT, is a schmuck.

Research cannot help someone avoid a good provider who, for whatever reason, gives them a hard time upon meeting.  Even the best providers can have shitty days.  Reputable providers don't do this sort of thing on a regular basis or they'd have no business, but when it does happen, why should the client have to stay? And pay upfront for a bad attitude before services are delivered?

If the client decides to stay, then the provider should be compensated but if her service is lackluster, or outright bad, the client has 2 options: 1] pay her in full and write a review, 2] talk to her about her service and see if she'll give back SOME of the money.

Providers, if you know you are not going to be able to provide good service that day, consider not accepting new clients for that day, and see your reliable ones who will understand.
