It's just good courtesy.
And if you cannot make it between a reasonable confirmation period and the appointment time, a concession needs to be made.
If I confirm with you 24 hours before an appointment and I end up having to change my appointment time, or cancel outright, I should give you a concession.
I was supposed to meet a provider on Wednesday night. I confirmed with her in the afternoon for 7 pm after work, and I ended up getting called into a meeting and then drinks afterward at the bar with clients. And I completely spaced and forgot the appointment (forgot to put it in my iPhone calendar).
I was a total NCNS, and I texted her after profusely apologizing, but ALSO saying I would give her the full amount since that was totally on me. It's not a lot of money ($140, as she has given me a great rate that she grandfathered in from years ago), but it shows respect.
If she had canceled on me last minute, I would have expected her to give me extra time or a discounted session.
If you have a good thing going, don't fuck it up. More importantly, just be courteous to others. It's really that simple.
I had a provider cancel on me day of after confirming with me the day before. She was coming from MN and to NYC. The day of, I get the email saying that hotels were too expensive, etc. And this was her second time, after promising me in the replacement session from the first cancellation that I would get more time.
Not sure what she expects going forward, but I would be a little disappointed if she didn't give me even more time, or discount the session.
And another provider in MN (WTF is it with me and MN providers visiting NYC?) had an emergency last minute and was in a different state, but I had to chase her down three times via email to get any kinda response. She agreed to do a FBSM/DATY session for a discounted rate from her typical GFE session, and that was nice. But when she canceled last minute and said she couldn't make it, I asked if she was cool honoring the same terms if I saw her in MN or if she came out here. Her response? "If you book within a certain period of time (not defined, BTW), then yes. However, if you don't, then no." I don't get that response. Seems to me like she had a better offer away and decided to blow off my session.
To which I say...if you don't like the terms, then don't offer them. And if you cancel on me last minute, you should at the very least offer the same terms, if not better.
Or maybe this is her way of saying...not interested. Which is fine, but I would just as soon hear the truth.
