... is that the scrotum, even when perfectly intact, is sensitive to rubbing alcohol. Any guy who doesn't believe me should try it. It's not as severe as pouring alcohol in a cut, but is certainly uncomfortable.

I have no idea if the penis is particularly sensitive to it; but I'll test it out and see.

One other issue, however: alcohol is extremely drying to skin. It combines with the skin's natural oils and whisks them away, thereby making the skin even more vulnerable to infection than it would otherwise be. So such practices as swabbing the penis with alcohol make the provider more safe, but put the hobbyist at greater risk.

Thus my perspective. If she is going to compromise the integrity of my skin and make it more likely that I will get things from her like herpes and HPV for which condoms offer highly imperfect protection at best; she should be equally willing to have me compromise the integrity of HER skin -- her first line of defense against infection.

This is my roundabout way of saying that however common this practice may be, I believe it to be ill advised. There are other alternatives.

is that the alcohol can dry out your skin to the point of chapping, perhaps actually increasing your chances of catching something. If she were to dilute it with water first, it should still be strong enough to sting any lesions or broken skin. I've never had a provider do this.

I did have an AMP experience where the lady nicely cleaned me up afterward with a washcloth and a warm mixture of alcohol and water. This did a good job of removing massage oil from the area without drying things out too much.

There is old brothel outside on Bennetsville, SC. They don't do the alcohol test but they wash you real good with warm soap and water. This is a wham bam thank you maam kind of place.
