The news keeps talking about hobbyist as though they are all such rich, powerful, arrogant guys.  That doesn't describe me at all and got me wondering what type of guy a typical hobbyist really is.  Obviously none of us want to reveal any info that could identify us, but I don't mind revealing some very generic demograhic type info:

I'm white, mid-30s, slightly over weight, have a professional/white collar job, and make close to $100k.  Sex is my only vice (never done drugs and rarely drink or gamble).  In fact, I seriously think I may be a sex addict.  However, I think most of my friends would be shocked to learn that I hobby.  I patronize only escorts, not streetwalkers (I have gone to an Asian massage parlor once or twice). I go for the GFE experience, nothing kinky or weird.

Guys, does that sounds like you?

Girls, does that sound like your average clients?

I am probably in the minority here with my profile, but I am in my mid-20's and probably make half of what you make. I can only hobby because I am not materialistic and started saving money when I was in high school. Additionally, I am single and free to do as I please. My bills are minimal because I am smart with my money. I am actually a pretty normal guy, but I have very high standards for women and am very shy and nervous. Basically I just want all the benefits without any of the stress or hassle of meeting women. The hobby gives me the chance to have the hottest girl in the bar, or the girl next door, or the hot chick from my class, or a model, or a sultry stripper, or whatever else I desire without having to make the effort of meeting said girls in public.

Ultimately I just love the companionship of a beautiful woman and with my standards, I can't get the type of girls I like on my own.

Well my income is in the same ball park as yours. I am laid back,and easy going which suits my profession. I find arrogant people obnoxious. In fact I find them  rather amusing and pretty unenlightened as to what is important in life. For this country I am fairly non materialistic and I am sure that money and materialism will not bring long term happiness. I am over 50 and in pretty good shape and enjoy cardio workouts. I was a hippie in my younger days but gave up the drug life long ago.  Been married twice with no children.  I could have girlfriends if I wanted to but just don't have much interest in that anymore.  I find this a nice alternative to round out my life.  Since I have to travel for my "dates" they are kind of like events for me and I really look forward to them. I don't consider sex a vice however and would not consider myself an addict  Maybe its because I'm single and don't have to deal with the ambivalence some people may have to cope with.

Why else do you think this hobby exists... for the rare individual who has a modest amount of power and money.... I mean - it is not like this guy was Bill Gates... or is it.

yea, you are normal... and most of us.. we hobby for a very wide variety of reasons... but what we actually seek, is companionship with a lady who appeals to us.... and we all differ in what is appealing to us...

why the press cannot get that right?  Because they hardly ever get a story right.... just ask the Duke Lacrosse team... press listened to the academic elite... and look  what they came up with there!

I read and participate in a couple of them.  I don't find feminism necessarily anti-men or even anti-prostitution.  Debate on legalization vs. decriminalization has broken out there, with some references to systems in Sweden, New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands.  Pretty interesting.

Oh and there is the occasional men bashing.  The primary author of one of the sites, Marcotte, believes that most men who engage in this relatively upscale end of the market really buy sex so they can dominate the women and treat them like trash.  Her reasoning is that no strings attached sex from gorgeous women is available for free everywhere, so we must something else.  (She did not offer tips on how to find that city of gold.)

I see only Gentlemen over 35yrs of age but mostly in their mid 40s and 50s.
They typically are business owners or ceos, very comfortable in their lifestyles. More than half married, and usually a good marriage. The ones who are not married are divorced, but it's complicated to date with work and traveling and all.
Very respectful intellectually interesting Gentlemen. A great deal of Lawyers play here in this hobby from what I can see, and they all treat me with respect. I can't say I can recall ever feeling controlled or degrated by one of my |Gents. A few times I may have felt they were weird, but I don't repeat with them. I prefer to see regs. and have no doubt most men who hobby although like variety tend to find a few they have a click with and thats where they spend their time.

People who defending hobbying often say that the men are looking for companionship more than sex.  That doesn't described me.  I have friends and family for companionship.  I'm looking for sex.  Nothing more.  I don't mind a little GFE experience, but bottom line is sex.

I have no problems finding girls to date and girlfriends typically satisfy my emotion needs.  But like many men, I need a varity of girls for sex, and I seperate love and sex.

I would say my average client is younger than me.  Woohoo.........I get to date younger men and they pay me for it too!  Seriously though, the majority of my clients average mid 30's to mid 40's, about 70% are married or are in a relationship.  The rest are busy with their careers and don't want the hassles of dating.  I see tons of engineers and men with advanced degrees.  More PHDer's than normal! Most men come to see me because they are missing intimacy in their lives.  It's not necessarily the sex part, it's the closeness!  Otherwise, why not just masturbate and not have to pay for it?  I get paid to cuddle and pillow talk! I always say the world would be a happier place if more couples took time out of their busy lives for a little bit of intimacy!
