Ok, so I have to ask, and please bear in mind that this is coming from a region where TER is not the main board used by ladies and gents alike: Do you guys get on TER chat to simply satisfy your interest in a provider or do you guys see it as another way to get screened, set up an appointment, etc? I ask because...well, I guess I'll reveal the reason for my asking when I get some responses from the gents... Guys, whats your main intent when you begin to "chat a provider up" over TER chat?

That's just the way I learned to use this site.  And since I have lots of ways to find the ladies there's no need to use chat to set up  dates.

I used it once last month, just to introduce myself to a lady who I knew used it.  I was out of state and thought it would help (and it did).  Basically said Hi, and let her know I was emailing info.  I don't think I would be comfortable going on just to "chat", unless planning to see someone, this is a business for the ladies and time is money.

I can do all the "chatting" I want to do right here, and getting screened, setting up an appointment, etc has never been an issue for me, so I have never had reason to ever use "chat"

I can't speak for anyone who's used it, but it seems like it would be a perfect way for little Dungbeetle's to suck up to providers that he never plans on actually seeing.

I have been on TER for a few years and not once have I ever been contacted or contacted someone via chat.

I use TER chat sometimes and yes I have met some gents off it and stay in touch with a few regulars on it as well

...don't think I ever will. I did try to access it a couple of times a few years ago. The link never worked. I was merely curious. I figured if it wasn't a simple access then I definitely wasn't interested.

Its the same thing, hon. When you open TER messenger, then you can start to chat...

If you  read your written word  , you might  notice , you already use the boards as a chat site .  
  I used chat  when I joined , not for dates , I was  usually playing  Devil's advocate .

In fact, one I would not have selected except for her chat.  She was very interesting, and we had good times, even had OTC dates.  Another I might have selected, but again, her chat presence was very attractive!  Not on there now, only due to my ahh, situation!

In chat you see everyone who's live in the chat room at that moment and can have a dialog with them in real time.  That is very far from the case on the boards where people will post and go away for hours before coming back to read responses.  This is also true for everyone who's moderated.  Clearer now?

Chat (which hardly anyone uses) is an open room with multiple people chatting at the same time. Messenger is a one on one live chat. Some ladies actually use it to set up dates. I have never been on chat but have spoken to ladies on messenger and have set up one date through it.

After reading all your other posts here, you are actually talking about "messenger" not chat.

The chat room would be filled many nights with as many as 75 guests and many of those people are still around and we all go back many years . Guys would pop in , read our profiles and get to know us . And then TER took those features away and the guys walked away too . I wish TER Admin would put the old chat back the way it once was it was not broken and if it's not broke don't fix it.  

I find most of the guys in chat say they will be visiting soon and just want to chat.  They act like they are going to make an appointment and then lead the conversation to anything and everything else.  I still give it a shot every now and then, but usually not very productive.  Just my take on it.

    If the chat window doesn't appear you might have to unblock your pop up blocker  .
  I hadn't been there in years  , just checked ,  it's working , three on the chat board counting me .
  I had to unblock my pop up blocker to gain access .

The private chat feature is a waste . Time waster central may as well be on yahoo just the same.
