Not hobbying/providing I mean real dating thru one of those "legit" dating services like Mat...com or Plentyof....com

Just curious because we (wife and I) were at a social gathering today and talking to a couple they wanted to know how we met.  Our story in a bar in the neighborhood we lived in at the time.  No shame to me I liked that bar and the rest is history.

This other couple had met thru a dating service.  The female had been on various sites for 3 years.  And according to her used to go on 10-20 dates a month.  Must be damn good to be a woman when the guy has to foot the bill all the time!!!!!!!!!  Kinda like being a Provider heh?

Anyway, just curious what most of the single Hobbyists and Providers do in terms how you meet real dates

And I take offense to the paying part. I always went and do go dutch on dates, because I don't want to come off as having wanted a "free meal".

I find this to be more fulfilling than dating, hence why I keep doing it.

I tried those dating websites about 10 years ago.  Those websites were a complete waste of time.  

Of course you can have a free trial, then they tell you that you have PMs waiting for you before you even put a picture or set up a profile even, and then you have to subscribe to the service to read them and reply.  Then it turns out to be a lot of random messages from fake profiles of women who all live a minimum of 2500 miles away, but who are very eager to meet you anyway.  If you reply just for kicks, then it is a lot of "before we meet, please go to my personal website where I do webcam sessions, I would like to meet you there"   ....Hmmm... So that's how it is in their family.

As for the real women on there, it seemed that any normal looking woman without a huge goiter on her head would get 100 PMs a day from every guy who ever signed up.  It is like being PM'd from every spammer in the universe, every day.  It is not an efficient way to match up anybody.  You would really have better luck being properly matched up to a drunk person at a bar.  I did talk to some real women on there after wasting a lot of time, but really, you just waste your time more than anything.  

Then later I discovered hobbying instead.

but nothing really worked out.. One gal was too crazy, and was already thinking of marriage and kids on 2nd date. Asking me all kinds of weird questions like how is my credit history and all that.  I find providers more sensible and well grounded than some of the civvie women..  

But all in all not a bad idea if you want to meet someone and have patience. It just didn't work out for me too well...

Generally, greed runs through the veins of most civilian women.

The last civilian woman I "dated" wanted to know if I would buy her a BMW and a five-bedroom house near the conclusion of our second "date." The "dates" ended at that point.

The hobby trumps civilian dating due to the fact that (generally) both parties are in agreement as to the bargained-for exchange.

Although the bargained-for exchange in the hobby can be viewed as artificial, it is still an equitable exchange that satisfies the temporary needs of both the provider and hobbyist.

My divorced daughter met her now husband  via dating service. She picked a real winner. I tried it 2 years after my wife died and found most of them incompatible. One has become a casual friend,but we merely exchange emails. This was several years ago and I have finally got the service to remove my listing from an account I stopped paying for. Junk mail sucks.
