Coming down I-95 past the Bronx and seeing the new towers where the old ones were.

As a kid, on semi-frequent family trips to NYC, I saw the original towers going up in the 1960s, not seeing them after 9/11 was so sad it brought a lump to my throat.

but will visit the new ones..

R.I.P. Fellow Americans..

A day that changed us forever.  

Remember working from home and news of the first tower being hit, then the second.  Got a call from my friend that works near the Pentagon and DC being on high alert.

To the men and women that perished that day and the one's who still carry scars - you made a nation stronger and more vigilant.  I will be eternally grateful for your sacrifice.

Mine as well as countless other industries came to a stand-still, and then were forever changed by it.

I remember sitting in front of the tube, too stunned to move away.  So many good people lost, murdered, all races, all creeds, all nationalities...

Killed in the line of duty were:

43 Paramedics
343 Fireman, 2 of which were also Paramedics
24 NYPD
37 Port Authority Police

These men and women are my brothers and sisters, as well as fellow Americans who died that day trying to save innocent lives. As one of the ones that run in while others are running out, I promise to continue to do my job and ask that you continue to pray for all first responders.

I am proud to be a medic. To those hero's that lost their lives RIP, we will take it from here.

I couldn't believe what I saw. I don't think I can ever forget how it felt. It still feel very raw this morning.

I will never forget that day as long as I live, and neither should any of us.

Hard to believe it happened 11 years ago, but we can never lower our guard because there are still those who are still trying to commit similar atrocities because they dont agree with our way of life.

To those I say...You will never defeat us.

RIP the 2,974 people who were murdered that fateful day.

My sister and newly third husband lol, were living there at that time. I was in some hick town working for the Department of Environmental Quality, when all the techs ran in and demanded we put the TV on. Then a flash of phone calls from my mom, brother, sister, and friends. It is a day and time I will never forget, and my heart still goes out to those on ground zero. There is a movie out called "Remember Me" with Robert Pattinson from Twilight..it is worth watching. A much better story than the actual "World Trade Center" movie.

when the first plane hit.  By the time I got to my office, the second plane had hit.  A short time later, after the third plane had hit the Pentagon, I could see the smoke rising from it from my office in SW DC.  It was a bit chaotic in DC but I managed to get home in the early afternoon and put out the flag.

I never did go up in towers, but one of my best memories was returning from a business trip to NYC in 1999.  I had driven to NY and was returning via the Staten Island ferry.  The ferry pushed back from lower Manhattan just before sunset.  As the sun was setting, the light was hitting the towers, lights were on in all the buildings, and it was just one of those magical views that you see and become etched in your memory.  That was the last time I saw the towers in person.

I'm glad you responded the way you did. I did not want to cloud the original message of my post with the discussion of the idiots that are out to profit from this. I have never served in the military but still have the utmost respect for those that do. I know that every square inch of this country has had blood spilled to defend our freedoms. I get goose bumps during the national anthem and will quickly demand someone take off their hat.

I was watching TV that day when the news about horror in NY came on !! i went to a college class that day!! A bunch of us were huddled around a TV!! Class started , but 15 minutes later the campus closed!! It took a half hour to leave the parking lot, for there was a mass exodus!! I stopped 2 a local grocery store on the way home! There was a long line around the building I thought there was a"run' on the store!! However, the people were lined up for giving blood , next door!! I bought a small flag which i put in the window of my van!! I still have the flag!!  I watched the news for the rest of the day!!
