Beware interview request...

I just received a PM from a Tracy Clark-Flory of something called Vocativ asking for me to submit to an interview on account of my listing as a top poster.

I caution all of you who might also be receiving this that even if this is on the level, communicating with the media is counter productive to our aims, and I highly recommend not cooperating.

It is also a possible trap by either LE or other unfriendly parties.  We have no way of knowing.

And if you are reading Tracy:  Sorry, but no dice

Vocatic appears to be an online magazine

http://www.vocativ.com/#news

The woman who contacted you covered a recent anti-porn measure in CA:

http://www.vocativ.com/news/287629/porn-stars-celebrate-regulatory-win/

She appears to cover the "All-Things-Sex" beat based upon her Vocativ articles.

Her brief bio:

Tracy Clark-Flory
Tracy is a senior staff writer at Vocativ covering sex, gender and relationships. She is a former staff writer at Salon.com and has contributed to Cosmopolitan, Elle, Marie Claire, Men's Health and others.

As you say.... media probably can't do anything for US other than harm.

You forgot to mention that she bumped uglies
with porn star James Dean during an interview.
She has some good stuff in print and I posted one above,
but Mr Fisher is correct as usual
How many others got the interview request?

Maybe you can be named Mr. Vocativ for February?  Send them some selfies.

Did they think you're a lawyer or something?

I'm sure you wouldn't use your real name for the interview.  So what's the problem?

Tremendous strides have been made in the sex worker rights movement by the brave souls who have used their voices in the media to challenge the current laws and policies, as well as the stereotypes and beliefs about the industry...

Public opinion and perception is changing.

Media is key.

That said, it is not for everyone... or even most.  And it is a good idea to research the types of works a reporter does before agreeing to speak with them.  I wouldn't think twice before speaking with Elizabeth Nolan Brown, and would jump off a cliff before speaking with FOX news.

IF I were going to pick an interview subject, you'd be at the top of the list.  I've been reading your posts for a few years now and I honestly can't think of another poster that makes as much sense as you do on a regular basis.

She does appear to be legit and does not seem to have an anti sex worker bias.  You might want to reconsider - if someone is going to tell that story - I would really rather it be you than some of the other posters.

All that said - I understand and respect your decision

Why would you want to avoid publicity.  I myself would welcome the chance to appear for a frank interview on local or, even better, national TV where I can be seen by my wife, children, grandchildren and my patients and my board of directors I could relate all my illegal activities and implicate as many people as possible Then I could close my office have some plastic surgery and move to a small dry dusty desert community in some really unpleasant place and try to start life anew.

I happen to like "small dry dusty desert communities" and they are not in the least unpleasant unless you dislike tarantulas, scorpions, rattlesnakes, and black widows. Oh, and having to drive two hours to see a quality hooker.

I haven't responded yet. My kneejerk reaction is a resounding NO, but I've been preaching for years that if hookers and johns are ever going to come out of the shadows, we have to come out of the closet first.

I am going to weigh the pros and cons very carefully before making my decision.

You sure do talk about yourself a lot in your posts.

Save a little bit for the interview.

I know where I live I couldn't find a tarantula or rattlesnake no matter how hard I looked and you are suggesting my escape plan would allow me to find as many as I could possibly want.
OK bring on the cameras.

The former collects and presents data, while the later obtains opinions and airs them.

Both serve a useful purpose, but when the subject is a matter of illegality, the latter can have devastating results.

Also, Dr. Milrod has a track record with me both from her days as a TER moderator as well as having met with her personally.

If I knew a journalist well and trusted them, my opinion about being interviewed might be swayed

a powerful marketing tool. Not accusing this individual or her journal, but it's a factor to consider.

When we talk about the "one woman" who answers EVERY ISO post on a regional board, no matter how much unlike the criteria of the poster she is, YOU are the woman we are talking about. Hasn't anyone ever told you "desperation is NOT sexy"??

but unlike you, I found her pretentious, boorish, self serving and a legend in her own mind.

Suffice it to say, I am not a fan of the good "doctor" and calling her a doctor is an insult to anyone with an MD behind their name IMO

to ruin my day!  You are an obvious choice as well given your prolific posting habits and background.

And... yes - you have been consistently preaching about coming out of the shadows for a while - and I salute you for not making someone else mention that.

This seems like an obvious opportunity.  Interview via PM would seem reasonably secure and anonymous.

Well... time to call or fold...  Couldn't resist that given your handle...

Regardless, I am certain you will give it a lot of thought and make whatever decision is best for you.  No one can expect more than that.

What part of "desperation is NOT sexy" did you not understand?

If English is not your first language I suppose I could make allowances for you, but "hustling" makes you look quite desperate, most guys tend to stay away from the women constantly making "Pick me, pick me" posts. I suppose the rational is that if she was any good at what she does, she wouldn't have to be constantly begging for business. I started to tell you this when you were in Dallas, but the Dallas board is so quiet, even your constant "pick me" posts were better than absolute silence.

I can't help it if you don't like the results.

if you don't want to get "poked back" you might try not poking in the first place.

Also, TCF has been covering the sex industry for a long time, and is one of the few journalists that tend to not sensationalize. She seems to be adept at telling that there is a difference between voluntary sex work and trafficking, which cannot be said for most journalists who cover the industry.

That said, she is a journalist, so whatever her editor deems necessary to focus on will get focused on, and her article will reflect the editor's biases, whatever those are.

But generally, I think she's pretty trustworthy.
