With a busy schedule, I figured an early appointment tomorrow (Memorial Day) would be perfect - go out for a couple of hours and back in time for the late afternoon BBQ. However, I called several providers in New York City and  and it seems like everyone is closed.

Is this normal for holidays or am I just having bad luck?

As surprising as it may sound ... most providers have families/friends who we like to spend time with during holidays )

Exceptions of course can be made ... but those usually involve a bit of planning.

I'd say it's pretty normal.  Providers have family obligations just like the rest of us and, to be honest, Mondays are a notoriously slow day in the hobby to begin with.

I think it would help if you elaborate a bit more when making your request for an appointment.

Your request was very generic and was not clear about what you are looking for.

In my case, you just mailed asking if I was "open" tomorrow.

Yes I am but how I could find out what you want?

Is hard for us to read potential clients minds...specially when you are looking for a specific time of the day.

Most providers will try to accommodate clients requests, but we need "more" info to give them the proper answer.

If you said "betty, can you see me around 8 or 9 am?" probably you would have your appointment set in stone by now.

The way you posted, it makes sound like we, NYC providers, are not willing to see you.

There are many girls working during this Memorial Holiday.

If I may, I would like to give you some feedback.  I cannot speak for other men, only myself. If I ask you if you are available tomorrow, then you can resond with "Yes I have openings at 10AM, 4PM, and 7PM." Or whatever. Right now, I am not working so my schedule is very flexible.  What I want is to be with a provider that is feeling charged up, fresh, in the mood, and excited. I can say "Are you available at 5PM tomorrow?" and you can say yes, but I don't know if you have to pick your kids up at 6:30 or when your husband is coming home or if you have to feed your elderly mother by 7 so you have to start cooking by 6:15 or you are diabetic and you have to give yourself a shot/eat certain food by a certain time, so I don't want to see you if you are stressed, worried or not in the mood.  This is the chance for YOU to tell ME when you are the most playful and happy.  Sure, you could be a night owl and say I love 2AM baby! but after 10PM, I am not as lively because I want to get up tomorrow at 5AM to practice for a marathon. Having said all of that, my schedule is VERY flexible and it is usually easier for me to accomodate you than the other way around.  So, if you want this guy's business, then tell him a time window that works for you.  Why should I have to keep guessing what times are best for you? I sent an email to one of my ATFs the other day and said let's get together this week.  She replied with Monday 1PM, Thur 1 or 3PM, and Fri 1PM.  I picked Thur and asked if she preferred 1 or 3. She replied that 3 would be better. I am so glad I asked!  Now I get to see her at the best possible time.  Since I am the customer, I would like to meet at the time that my provider is the most happy, charged up, in the mood, and relaxed. Just tell the customer what works for you and let him fall into your schedule.

And I was giving an answer based on the way he did contact me.

New York is truly the city that never sleeps and you can find girls 24/7.

But, morning appointments are not very common here because new yorkers or visitors only starts to book for after 10/11 am until late into the night.

Usually, guys who wants morning appointments are visitors - the locals never books in the early hours of the day.

So, a bit of research on what kind of availability one might encounter while traveling would be the wiser choice.

In my case, if you go to my calendar, I state my availability day by day...it says from 8 am until midnight...but, of course, potential clients do understand this is just my hours of work and doesn't mean I and actually working. I place the hours I can be available to help a client plan his booking.

If this gentleman was more specific on his request saying "I am looking for an early morning appointment, between 8 and 10 am" I think he would get way more replies than just ask if we are "open".

Even if my calendar says from 10 am to midnight, when a client wants a specific time he says "I see that you are working starting at 10 am but can you see me around 8 am?", I am surely going to try to accommodate his wishes.

I never been to Atlanta (his place of origin) so I don't know how bookings are done over there, but here in New York we have an energetic kind of lifestyle and is better, if you visit our city, to plan ahead for your entertainment IF you need a specific day & time.

if you ask for availability tomorrow the initial e-mail should include preferred time or times for the appointment.

your preferred process starts a long inefficient conversation that looks like a bad return on investment.

a first time request without specifics from a gentleman one day prior? i'd delete it were i in the biz.
