The advice column (Annie's Mailbox) in my local paper had a letter from a woman who caught hubby cheating by hitting the redial button in their house. It rang the number of a local motel. She staked it out and caught him leaving with her.

So anytime you make a phone call of a sensitive nature, dial the weather, the time of day, or some other neutral number. I would recommend doing this on every phone you use: home, work, whatever. It only takes a few seconds and could save you a lot of grief.

Since we are talking warnings here;

Let's not forget about those little pieces of paper with addresses and telephone numbers on them.  Sometimes gentlemen forget who does the laundry and finds this evidence in pockets!

I only use the phone that is listed on my site for this biz so when a lady calls I usually know what happened and I just say something to the effect, "it must be a wrong number"!  This reply also works for cell phone numbers that are questionable on your bills.

I would recommend NOT using your home phone no matter what. It only takes one call to the phone company to get a "detailed" bill(shows all nimbers dialed, date and time). The additional charge for one is minimal and anyone who's name is on the bill can request one. If the household bills are in both spouces names, this could be bad.

If it must be done, go to Sam's Club and pick up an AT&T calling card. They're reasonably priced, and you call an 800 number then enter your information as to what number you want to call. The down side is that if you are calling a lady for the first time, this will show up as a call from out of state. Mine shows on caller ID as anyplace from Atlanta to California depending on call volume at the time i use it.

Fully understanding the forum we're in here and that most Providers attribute a large percentage of their incomes to men with SO's. I am constantly entertained as well as dismayed with the endles measures & countermeasures taken to safely effect infidelity. I'm NOT making a moral judgement. Just very happy to be unattached while enjoying this hobby.

Don't forget cell phones, mine stores the last 10 numbers dialed, as well as frequently called numbers. So when I make a call or two that I don't want my wife to see I end up calling my office and voicemail and people I know aren't home. She has never checked it, but if she does at least I'm covered on that one.

Good points re phone technology - I would also recommend frequently clearing your internet browser history folder (for Windows Internet Explorer go to tools, internet options, scroll down to history button and hit clear or reset to 0)

Don't forget to delete incoming & outgoing email (sent folder) also.

I don't have a wife to worry about anymore, but I would prefer that my at home daughter not learn from the computer that I have become a "hobbyist".

I have a S/O and "boy toy". I dial a bunch of different numbers at the end of the day, so in any case he decides to check my phone, he won't recognize any of them.

Could there be a calling card that allows the call to show up properly on the provider's caller ID, and still not show up anywhere    readily accessible to one's spouse?  

How about those "Total Cents" cards?  (With these you buy credit that you can only use when calling from the same line you used when calling to activate the card.  Using the credit involves dialing an 866 access number and then dialing the desired number--no PIN to enter.)  I routinely use these things, but I have no idea how the calls show up on caller ID at the other end.  I do not know of any way to get a record of calls dialed through this system, but that does not mean that there is none.

I always remind a friend of mine to dial my home number so the redial thing will not a problem.
