Based on your suggestion, I would opt for the longer DATY thing for her if she wanted.

I remember doing birthday cake with one or two people when I just entered this world. What I get her depends on the relationship I have with the person. Usually it's something sentimental I listen and remember what people tell me that matters and I go after that. Everyone enjoys opening a gift from someone they don't expect a gift from.  

I get them jewelry, or sometimes  flowers.  Or if there is something in particular I know they want, I get them that.

"I don't do it all the time."  

...and a gift card she used to buy a new purse and pair of jeans...

I honestly don't care if that's what you want to do.  But seriously pal, how do you even know when her birthday is?  Have you seen any legal document that would tell you this?  

I might consider it and clearly would depend on the relationship that formed. Probably would do something like give her a card that says the time scheduled was now hers to do as she wanted -- including asking me to go somewhere else while she watched TV; with no refund of course.

Or did I stumble on match or eharmony in error?

A provider I liked told me she liked Nora Jones, so in due course I got her the newest Nora Jones CD, which she appreciated.  After a few more appointments I noticed that she had a huge pyramid CD holder full to the brim with CDs.  I could only imagine where they all came from.  At Christmas time, I called on a friend of hers and noticed a couple of mammoth teddy bears piled up outside the front door.  I helped her haul them in, and inside her door there were more of them, a teddy bear collection that would have rivaled FAO Schwartz.  It was hilarious, and she found it both funny and flattering that her clientele had showered her with such sentimental stuff.    She must have needed a moving van to haul it out when she eventually moved on.

I have very particular tastes, so I buy things myself. Plus I don't like hoarding stuff in my house. I also don't like flowers. They die. And I don't feel like having someone bring me things that will die for me to throw them out later

Cause at the end of the day they are people also. When you have a relationship with someone sometimes you get them a gift to show that you care. You might also do this with a friend. As far as knowing when their birthday is sometime tou just have to take their word for it.

A box of condoms, for your birthday!

We like a thoughtful gift just as much as a civvie chick. I think it's sweet when my clients buy me gifts and No we don't throw out their gifts unless they are disposable like flowers.

The most meaningful gift, I'd like to receive, is a birthday card (whether humorous, or sentimental) with a thoughtful note, written inside.  

And because they stuffed themselves all winter. LOL

I do know when her birthday is. I've seen it on her driver's license, so she never lied about it. I don't expect you to understand people who don't think the way you do.

I don't worry about dieting or bikini season. I'll eat my own chocolates thank you very much

Perfume, flowers, candles, wine, dinner. Sometimes just some extra cash.

The thinner girls do like to give them away so there is always plenty for me.

I learned my ATFs birthday when I bought a plane ticket for her to meet me for a weekend getaway. Since then I've given her a card plus some sort of gift on her birthday. Year 1 it was a few bottles of wine, as a joke--the winery's name incorporates her hobby name. Plus a surprise threesome with her favorite provider girlfriend.  Year 2 was a 3-hour date and a long massage from her favorite massage therapist. She liked that so much I did the same thing the following year.  This year, I might stick with that or maybe go back to the surprise threesome idea.

It really showed me who was in this for me...cared about me above and beyond the boundaries but with total respect of a gentleman.

Little do I expect more than what you given me for our time but a sweet little gift is always nice and appreciated ! The cost value is not important. Just whatever your heart desires. I don't expect an expensive gift.  !

around my birthday so we have extra time to celebrate.  Have also gotten gift cards to places I frequent and/or money.  Flowers which I dislike for the most part because they die and then take up all of the room in my trash so I have to take it out immediately....  Have gotten other things as well but they were small here and there items like candles, books, and items like that.  Candy and Chocolates as well.

Given my ATF gifts & taken her out to dinner, more than once, that is why she is my ATF !

At first I wasn't comfortable receiving gifts and was really of the mentality I would prefer more time together if anything. Then a wonderful man gave me a necklace. It was totally unexpected and the sentiment was so sincere...I wear it everyday.

My ATF's Birthday is in April. I'm taking her shopping for clothes and buying her a new computer. Another provider I just met is spending my birthday with me at the Sybaris for a weekend get away.

Really, I am single, so a nice gift would always be accepted, but never expected. How about a birthday tip? If you're worried she can't take a gift home, I guarantee you, she can take money home, and extra cash is never "crossing the line".

That's the last thing you want from a client.

I don't do it for all providers, but for my ATF.
It's really no issue doing it for her and enjoy giving her gifts!

Birthdays are for kids people. You know, hats, horns and clowns! If y'all wanna celebrate birthdays, buy ur damn mom a gift for going thru labor that day! She's the one who deserves a gift!  
My SO never buy each other bdays and holiday gifts. We work hard. When she or I wants something, we go get it! No matter what day it is!!
