Why do we, of the Hobby, call oral sex on a man’s member a “blow job”? I mean we don’t call dining at the Y a “blow job”. Yet we in our confused, uneducated, pitiful state of mind still fumble along quite happily trying to help our Provider friend reach the same ultimate goal or should I say “climax”.

Right? Right!

Well, I have taken the onus upon my own shoulders burden that it is to try and further the education of you dumb bast---s … uh, I mean educationally-challenged Hobbyists.

First, I journeyed to an ever, enlightening source … Webster’s dictionary. To my surprise here’s what Merriam had to say about blow job,

“usually vulgar:  an act of fellatio”.

Okay, not really very helpful.

So, I turned to Maven’s Word of the Day and I quote:

Both explanations share the view that interpreting the word blow figuratively is the key to understanding blow job. Then you are in striking range of deciphering the steamy slang. Now, you just have to decide which figurative meaning of blow the word refers to.

By the 1970s, the use was widespread in the U.S. and the U.K. Whatever its origin, it can now be shortened to only blow, and is often used to make combined forms, like blow book 'a pornographic magazine' or blow buddies 'friends who engage in oral sex'.

Here is another explanation from Wikipedia,
"The common slang term blow-job is a misnomer, as blowing is not normally part of fellatio. In fact, blowing air into a partner's penis is an unhealthy practice. It is often suggested to be a corruption of "below-job", an old victorian slang term that was commonly used to describe the act."

A long time ago in a massage parlor not to far away a woman asked if there was anything else this gentlemen would want.  He nervously responded that he would enjoy a blow job.  She then proceeded to lightly blow upon the young gents penis to his utter dismay and bemusement.
