There is an amazing world outside of the US.  For those who aren’t aware I thought I’d post my experiences from a recent trip.

Winnipeg, Canada – 1st night in Winnipeg the concierge (she btw) at my hotel asked if I’d like an escort for the evening.  I quietly asked if it was legal and she replied with a smile ‘yes, of course.  I can arrange for someone for just sex or dinner and sex.’  I knew it was generally legal in Canada, but Winnipeg is the heart of the conservative belt up there so I was a bit surprised.  An hour later a very pretty brunette knocked on my door.  My concierge friend had done well.  One look and I couldn’t wait until after dinner so we reversed activities for the evening and then she tacked on a wonderful nightcap before leaving.  ($350)

Toronto, Canada – Decided to visit a local brothel.  Though prostitution is legal, brothels are a gray area.  However, at least in Toronto, they are tolerated as long as there are no problems.  I have to say that the evening was somewhat of a disappointment.  The girl I choose turned out to have a bit more attitude than I cared for, but still finished so I can’t complain too much.  ($200)

London – Options abound.  There are numerous terrific gals who advertise on Punternet for outcall ($120 - $400) or incall ($100 - $150).  This time however I was booked solid with work and meetings the entire 3 days.  While walking through SOHO one day to get a bite to eat though, I was checking out the ads for the walkups (kind of like mini-brothels) and happened upon a very pretty young gal going in one.  She asked if I was interested.  All I can say is WOW!  I couldn’t have eaten lunch afterwards even if I’d had time.  $60 for an amazing 40 minutes.

Frankfurt – Germany is variety country.  Just about every city has a RLD with one or more brothels.  Frankfurt’s starts a block from the main train station with about 2-dozen 6 story brothels.  You will also usually find one or more gals inside or in front of many bars as well as some good options for outcall on the internet or in local papers.  Swingers clubs also abound.  The best though, IMHO, are Germany’s FKK”s.  These are like naturist clubs but where sex is the object rather than pure nudism and the women are all attractive.  I scheduled one day off on my trip just for this experience.  Frankfurt alone has over 30 FKK’s, all with a mostly upscale/professional clientele.

Arrived at FKK-World about 11:00 am ($40 entry fee) and spent the next several hours drinking and sunning by the pool.  FKK-World is in a converted mansion about 20 minutes north of Frankfurt.  For most of the day there were about 30 gals – all walking around nude, and about 20 guys, some wearing a towel for modesty, most not.  Sunning by a pool, swimming, and hanging out in the sauna with all of these women is an experience everyone should have at least once.  About mid-afternoon I went with a very pretty petite blond to a zimmer (room, but really a small cottage) for an unbelievable hour ($60).

At 6:00 I headed out to FKK-Atlantis ($65), grabbing a bite to eat on the way.  Atlantis is similar to FKK-World, but it has more and prettier girls.  Within about 10 minutes of my arrival and before I could even make it out to the pool I found myself in a zimmer with a pretty young redhead.  She was trying to perfect her English so we ended up spending over an hour in the room talking and playing.  $75 well spent.  Back out to the pool for a while and then before I left at 2:00 am, a visit to a zimmer with a cute petite blond who knew just what to do to make the 3rd pop of the day very special.

In conclusion, all of the above was completely legal (except perhaps the brothel in Toronto).  The US is the only industrialized nation that has laws against prostitution.  It’s time to change them.

Whilst prostitution itself is not illegal here, soliciting for prostitution definitely is so if the girl in the Soho walk up made the suggestion to you she was committing a crime.

I would strongly recommend avoiding the walk-ups in Soho.  A high proportion of the girls working there are trafficked from Eastern Europe by organised criminal gangs and are forced to work, have their passports taken from them, their families back home threatened, and are often beaten by the gang members. Police here consider it such a problem that they have recently started a system of protecting the girls who have been rescued from this slavery in safe houses in the UK (rather than just deporting them) if they will testify against the gangs.  I'm sure this sort of abuse of is not something any decent person would want to encourage by visiting these walk-ups.

I am curious about the club scene in Frankfurt.  After reading the travelog, I am tempted to visit one of those.

I hope you're feeling much better since your last visit to LA.

or somehow a hobbyist's paradise -- i keep hearing this about LA for example, but except for the plethora of PSEs, please! are you kidding me? LOL

let's face it our puritanical bent, back-asswards legal code and the stifling influence of the Christian Right puts us squarely outside the top-10 list of hobbylicious countries

and to anyone who would say "but surely we have the most beautiful providers" i would say (right after i'm done laughing in their face) that surely you've never set FOOT in any other part of the world (Eastern Europe for one)

much guilt trips.  How many countries with the exception of UK have ample supplies of ladies of different cultural and ethnic background?

Sometimes, a happy, well rewarded, independent lady is extremely attractive and interesting.  Other times, an easy, submissive, compliant agency lady is what one needed.

every Creed, Colour [sic] and pick-another-C-word that one can imagine or want!

i used to think that the US led the hobby world in regards to the "high-tech" aspect of it, what with the internet and all (case in point TER [shameless plug]). but that's soon changing in other parts of the world as they too become "wired" up to their eye-balls (surfing European porn/modeling online agencies is a past-time of mine! ;-)

and pursuant to a point that Carrie made. it's indeed true that the post-Wall "Russian mob" is in the white slavery trade. the majority of those delectable Eastern Euro-babes that fill the brothels of Europe are in facts victims of this trade. it's a disgrace. the Russian mob, with its connections to another "mob" in LA has now started importing a fresh retinue of hot-as-hell ex-USSR-grade pornstars into our adult industry (every one of which i'd give my one remaining left-testicle to bone! LOL)

--

and pursuant to another counterpoint someone made a while back, refuting my claim that Eastern-bloc "commie" babes were the least inhibited sexually, i will simply say that you Sir (whoever you are, i forget) have been sleeping with the WRONG commie wenches! LOL

While there are surely some wonderful ladies in the US, I'd have to give the variety nod to the EU and Isreal.  Before I left Atlantis there were over 70 gals in there and I'd guess they represented at least 15 different countries.

Thanks Carrie.

My few experiences in SOHO have all been with local gals, haven't run into any eblock though I've heard similar things as you posted.  My understanding though was that the majority of the trafficked girls were either north of SOHO or Hackney.

Also, while I know that illegal trafficking does exist, I've had discussions with several people, including one MP, who've said that it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be and that the histeria is from conservatives who want to shut down the entire industry. ?

Anymore info you can provide though would be welcomed.

Regarding your last sentence - so true. What the heck is wrong with us here? It's like the business that I'm in (not Sedona) that has been around since 1910 in Europe and yet the Americans are just so stubborn and headstrong to see straight sometimes - having an attitude of being better and more advanced than other countries, which couldn't be further from the truth! We need some real eye opening, and some radical change.

Now, in reading about the amount of money you paid for these services - that's not a lot of money. How motivating, then, is it for these ladies? Can they even make much of a living doing this? It puts it in a different light, compared with the money one could make here. I guess their message boards wouldn't have the Cynicalman's counterpart saying "it's all about the money"! LOL Cuz it sure ISN'T! LOL
Can you give us the documentary rundown comparison to life in the Biz there vs. here? I'd be interested in hearing..

We have to keep in mind that wages in the US are higher than just about every other country so that has to be taken into account.

In the UK (and to some extent throughout the EU) there's a wider range of prices with numerous outcalls pushing up against $500.  SOHO is about third from the bottom and what I paid would normally have been for about 20 minutes I think (Carrie?).

Also, in the FKK's (or some of them anyway) the girls get a portion of the house.  The one girl that I talked to for a long time said that she enjoys the FKK environment over any other options.  She said that she gets to talk to her client for a bit before she decides if she wants to go to a zimmer with him (her choice), she likes the naturist environment, makes better money than any other job option, and can decide to work, or not, at the last minute depending on her homework load.

Whatever the extent of trafficking though, forcing anyone to participate against their will is abhorant and should not be tolerated.

predominantly Catholic countries like France, Spain, Italy (right in the pope's backyard)? How about Latin America and Mexico? Those are mostly Catholic also.

I was raised Catholic, and believe me, everything concerning sex is a mortal sin. Masturbation is a mortal sin. Looking at a woman and having sexual thoughts about her is a mortal sin, unless she happens to be your wife. For those who don't know, a mortal sin is a sin that carries eternal punishment in hell if it's not forgiven by a priest.

Say what you want about fundamentalist Christian preachers. None of them have anything on my eighth grade nun.

Does this summarize the situation in Canada in a nutshell? I have heard varied and conflicting stories about Canada. And does it vary from province to province?

It's a beautiful country BTW, if you've never been there. The cities are immaculate. Canadians don't throw trash and beer cans in the gutters the way Americans do.

if you admit the premise and accept the conclusion of this article then things are FAR rosier than we thought ... now ask yourself: how frequently is reality "rosier" than what we thought ??? ... and in THIS bizness!?

I hear there's a whole world (ahem) of other opportunities out there.

Not an expert...but from what I have read, Canada has a bawdy house law. The brief description given is that one girl can do incall out of a location, but multiple providers in one location is not legal. Escorts can advertise in newspapers and even telephone books in Canada. Not sure how indiscreet they can be, but as you stated Canadians as a rule are polite people.

It's legal in all the countries you mentioned.  I believe it's a correct statement that the only countries where it is illegal and the laws are actually acted on is the US and Arab countries.  My understanding is that it's technically illegal in Tailand and some other asian countries, but has been tolerated forever and they just use the illegality to regulate things.

France - I believe incall/outcall is legal.  I know that brothels operate openly and the gendarms patrol in front of them so I assume that they're either legal or fully tolerated and there are openly advertised brothels in other cities.

Spain - Haven't been myself, but my understanding is incall/outcall/brothels are all legal but that advertising is fairly restricted.

Italy - I don't know the laws, but it exists somewhat openly, though I'd personally rate Italy at the bottom of all European countries.  The area north of the train station in Rome is the RLD there.  It's kinda rough and not nearly as nice as those in other EU countries.  I've had fairly good outcall in Milan and Florence, but finding them was a pain.  I think most of Italy is kinda scary street action.

Mexico - It's fully legal and practiced openly.  Once, when going into a stripclub/brothel in Zih/X there was a tourist police pickup in front.  When they first called me over I was a bit concerned, but they told me that they'd had some recent problems with some out of town girls ripping customers off and asked me to just let them know if that happened to me or my friends.

Anyone else?

I always had great service and gorgeous providers in Austria. In Austria everything is legal, escorts agencies as well as independent providers. Also I had great service with beautiful girls in Germany, but I a not sure if it's legal or not.

I love Italy, Italian women, Italian wine, and Italian food.  When I first read your post I wondered why you left off the cars, but then I caught the Sicilian part - The good cars are all made up north :-)

The escort scene in Italy really pales compared with all other EU countries and most other countries in the world though.

Interesting article, thanks justtryingharder.  My information comes from somebody who worked for two years on 'Project Reflex' which is mentioned near the start of the article and his take on the problem is very different to what is presented in the Spectator article.  I would not expect the Spectator to be an objective commentator and their phrase 'ever more influentital NGOs' to me speaks volumes about where they are coming from.  As I said, interesting read, though.
