A friend of mine hooked up with a guy who wanted to help her get more clients.

From the time I met him, I got a bad vibe from him.

Unfortunately, I was right.

Earlier this evening, we had a chat. What she told me was very disturbing:

This guy wants her to drop everything she's doing and move in with him.

He thinks that clients are nothing more than tricks and escort is just another fancy word for a professional whore.

He doesn't want her to talk to men that aren't in the business.

Most of his personal items were stolen (he's got friends who are "professional" shoplifters).

He wants her to cancel all her plans with her friends and concentrate on getting clients.

Does this sound odd and farfetched to you? It sure does to me

I'm afraid for her safety. When she turns him down, he may try to destroy her reputation...and I don't want that to happen.

I told her not to see this guy anymore...he's bad news and up to no good.

This guy sounds crazy-- and dangerous. I wish your friend extreme good luck and a lot of fortitude; this is not going to be easy.

"a guy that wants to help her get more business"  Is she nuts????  She met him via CL? Come on.  Now I know this is harsh but....if she's is that 'naive' to believe him, maybe she does need someone to help her in the biz. Come on ladies....THINK!!!

NO WAY! OMG, I hope she is not even considering that. These kind of men are everywhere, not just Craigslist.

This guy is obviously bad news. Control freaks like that are usually abusive and you begin to feel like you are in prison and it is hard to get OUT. I made that error very young- (not a provider then but the guy was controlling and I was not "allowed" to do anything or go anyplace without him.) I hope she is wise enough to listen to your advice.
