...... so many others here frequently give advice on shit about which they know nothing, why should I be any different?  ;-)

It seems that it locates you through your own FB app on your personal phone.  So you can take the Facebook app off of your phone, leave your phone behind when you go a-mongering, or turn your phone off when you set about your nefarious adventures and only turn it back on once you are somewhere innocent once again.

Hmmmm, that was fun.  Maybe I should post out of my ass more often.  LOL.  :-

I had something similar happen, when a provider popped on as a "suggested friend" on FB. It was a good thread on the newbie board a couple of weeks ago.  One of the upshots was to turn off the location feature on my phone. I generally don't want my meandering tracked, even when I'm off saving widows and orphans and rescuing kittens. I also took FB off of my phone, since it was becoming a dangerous time-waster.

Go to the Facebook app on your phone, then:

Tap More  > Nearby Friends
Tap the icon that looks like a gear (the standard settings icon) in the top right
Tap to turn Nearby Friends on or off

While you are at it, tap Location Settings on that same page and make sure Location is off or "while using", then turn off Location History on the bottom

Hope that help

Go into the settings of your phone and turn off the GPS function associated with Facebook...

You need to go to settings>privacy>location services (assuming an iphone) and turn off location services for facebook and every other app where you don't want it using the GPS on the phone to track you.

Also...when you're mongering just power the phone off a few miles before you get there.

It's spelled D-I-V-O-R-C-E, and believe me IT'S WORTH IT!

My ex was snooping on me, through my email, my phone, my work laptop, she even put a GPS tracking device in my car. I never did cheat on her, and I have no reason to lie about that now and especially in this forum. Insecurity is so ugly, it breeds jealousy which is the ugliest of all human emotion.

So, I divorced her and started this wonderful chapter of my life and I'm the happiest I've ever been.

Facebook is bullshit, I had a page for about 1 month, when I was married and I saw it for what it was then, and this was prior to finding out about her snooping. Nothing good comes out of Facebook.

My $.02

I've had random sand clients popping up on possible friends list since I've been in the US and it freaked me out. I had the find location always thing on and now it's off so thanks!!

I have an Andriod phone.  I keep GPS off (mostly to save battery life.)

When you shut the FB Nearby Friends feature, it will default to a setting that will show you as being at some other location that you can program in:

Dhurch, library, gym, golf course, etc.

How do I get paid for this now
