And here I was thinking, she was "boxers" friendly [e] :D
I recently went indy and have a question for other indy providers. I never accepted checks before but due to recent changes, I've decided to accept cashier's checks for deposits. As checks usually entail having a payee name that matches your ID or bank account, how do you accept a cashier's check without revealing your real name?
You need an anonymous cover business or a 3rd party to route it through. As I've never heard of a cashiers check being made out to cash. Or you could apply it directly to some big bill you have.
and as a newbie indy, you will be a potential target for any number of slimy guys trying to get over on you.
As a veteran provider, I urge you to accept cash only. When you DO want to accept deposits, open a bank account in a business name, make deposits into it so you establish a pattern of revenue, and then get a credit card account with Square or Pay Anywhere under the same business name.
It's a bit of work, yes, but you will establish yourself as a legitimate business, you can pay taxes on that income, invest that income and set yourself up for a future that won't be held hostage by years of cash-only income, stuffed under a mattress.
best of luck to you, darling!

Thank you so much, Tabu! Great suggestions. Best of luck to you too, lovely!
Actually, it was the guy who suggested it. I may consider using a PayPal business account instead.
if they get even a whiff of impropriety (namely, an escort or adult-oriented business.) This has happened to MANY ladies, so be advised.
You are better off with a regular Credit Card merchant account.
For deposits I prefer Green dot and so far I haven't received a complaint!
The card can be purchased almost from any type of super market/ drug store.. That is CVS/ Walgreens.
The client would load the card there and call you to provide you the number which goes on YOUR
Credit card thus... None of his info nor you giving him your name!! Works perfectly
to all of these pre-paid cards.
Green Dot is partly owned by WalMart so, you figure out the rest.
request blank money orders, that way you can fill them out yourself and use them to pay rent or your Macy's card.
you can tell who the Registered Agent of the LLC is. Isn't that right? So there you go. That will reveal who she is in a heartbeat.
At least in VA you can do it very easily on Virginia SCC website. I'm sure in most states you can do the same.
I think Green Dot is the easiest way..
Just accept cash.
A single member LLC is of no real value here. Anyone can still find the LLC members online...the registered agent is just that..can be an attorney, CPA, hooker, john...who cares.
As to the OP accepting a cashiers check...easy enough to put a stop payment on it as well.
The less people who know what the gal is doing is better. Having access to her legal name is not a wise move...but then again I've seen plenty of other not smart things here as well.
She also knows briefs better ![]()

And takes her job very seriously.
I love those litigators...don't you?
Otherwise no money. Moreover, potential for other troubles as the bank sees fit including, forgery charges. Same goes for Money Order
