Usually I like the Hanks/Howard Team's efforts... however, because of the necessity to provide a look into the thought processes of the main character to have an understanding of motivation and placement of facts in time and space to better understand the "action" the book does not translate well onto celluloid.  Usually Howard does an excellent job of being innovative with respect to the presentation of different things.. but in this film, he was neither innovative nor useful in transmitting information.

Hanks was somewhat "wooden" in his interpretation and the female lead was totally forgettable.  The best part of the movie?  The scenery... In fact, I think that Howard should have made this into a tourist movie.  

Having said this, what puzzles me is the hoopla being made over the movie... at best a C+ effort by two of Hollyweird's best.  While the premise of the book (the davinci code) is based upon a slight alteration of accepted church and historical dogma, it is not really presented as total fact...  It is also very true that some of what is presented in the book and movie have been the stuff of legend for centuries... so why the fuss!?  Aren't we the same group that just told the Muslim extremists to mellow!?  

Seems to me, we are very good at identifying medicine in the other person's medicine chest, but cannot take it ourselves....  

Still at the price of movies today, the length of the movie (about 2 hr. and 30 min) and the lackluster product, I really cannot recommend going to see this, wait to the DVD!

The "one redeeming grace" of the movie is that lil' Tommy Cruise is not in it.

I am going to see the movie Sunday night and I am looking forward to it, because I love movies, I am a true movie lover.  I also really enjoy Ron Howard, and Tom Hanks films.

 People are either going to like this movie, or hate the movie.  People that have read the book are going in with high expectations, when really its seems like a hard book to put onto the silver screen.

 I am going in with no expectations, other then I hope at least that I am not bored.  Its a movie, so all I want out if it, is to be a good movie, one that I can enjoy sitting thru.  I have no problem with movies being long...I LOVED King Kong, and that was a long one.  I do prefer to stay at home and watch movies in my home theater.

 As for Tom Cruise.., I also enjoy his films.  Hey lets face it, Tom Cruise is one of the biggest actors today.  His movies do well.  Plus he is not too bad too look at either...

My God, could you see Tom Cruise in this flick? Ugh. It would be even worse. So would the media hoopla.

i'm going to see it sunday. i enjoyed the book so much i just have to see the movie.

unfortunately it was sold out tonight. Have to see it another time.

that forces you to provide your earnings to their "cause,"  He Gets you pregant by some mysterious means and then has you give birth with no pain assistance - hell you can't even yell.... and he goes on National TV jumps up and down on a couch and embarasses the hell out of you!  Yup, I think I can match that!

lol!  Oh, the best part - he is old enough to be your dad..... Got ALL the bases covered baby, come on over.... let me play with your ta ta's!!!

...I hope that it is not a "load".
