I just had my first ever experience with a NCNS provider.  I had contacted her by email to set up an incall appointment with about 10 days advance notice for either a Wednesday or Thursday.  She responded the next day stating that either day would be ok.  I replied that wednesday would work out great.  A day before the appointment I sent an email confirming time and date and asked what city to meet in (So Cal is a big area.)  No response.  On Wednesday I left a VM on her phone number listed in her ad, which is same number listed on her website.  No response.  Yes, I included my phone number in my first two emails.  And yes, she is well reviewed on TER and has a long history of positive reviews on one other board.  No, I didn't find her on CL.

I'm not the type of guy to keep hounding a lady with lots of emails and VMs.  If she blows me off I can take a hint.  I'm not mad, just disappointed.

What gives?  Did she finally get around to checking references and decide she doesn't want to see me after already commiting to an appointment?  Did she get hit by a bus?  Did she go on an alcohol/drug binge?  Is LE closing in on her and forcing her to go underground?  Did she move back in with her ex, who made her quit providing?  The lack of communication tends to make my imagination run wild.

Is it worth sending another email a day or two later asking what's up?

I just don't want to wind up on some national DNS list if she accuses ME of being the NCNS.

I'm guessing that she say that the appointment wasn't confirmed.  Here's why.  The initial discussion was for one of two times.  You later picked one of them, but she never responded to say that worked.  (Fine line, I know, because she previously said it would work).  The critical point here is that as early as a day before, she wasn't responding, so if it was me, I'd never have considered that we'd meet up.

It's a lesson that we all seem to learn the hard way, but I bet she never thought it was inked, and you were sure that it was.

an appointment was never confirmed. as to why she didn't respond to your follow-up emails, that's anyone's guess, but if i were you i would simply move on to more considerate and/or professional providers.

You never had a confirmed appointment. NCNS is when one of the parties fails to show up for a scheduled appointment on a specific day and time and at a specific location.

I wouldn't call this NCNS. NC yes, NS no. Basically you didn't get a response for the date and you didn't wast any time.

My solution is always find another one. It is good to have few providers you can call on moments notice. When I send email, or VM; I let the provider know, if I don't get response by such and such time, I am moving on. Works for both, neither one waits around. My days of waiting for dates are over and when I want to play, I want to play.

Since it's not a confirmed appt, it's not a NCNS.  Since you have already followed-up with email and phone, it's time to move on.  It's a business and for whatever reason she has decided not to do business with you.  I doubt you would pine over not being able to use a particular dry cleaner... well, this is just another business outlet that is closed to you and there are so many, many, many more to choose from who would probably love to have you as a client.

I got an email from the lady on Thursday evening.  It was just a simple miscommunication in emails. One of my emails mentioned Wednesday and another one mentioned Thursday.  It looks like the appointment wasn't confirmed, as others here have suggested.

I sent her another email explaining the situation and appologising for any misunderstanding.  We agreed to reschedule on another day.  Problem solved and lesson learned.
