With just as many nutjob providers and hobbyists ready to pounce on someone with a different perspect than they, aliases are necessary to deter irrational outing, blacklistings and Dns's.

Really people, when you are participating in a National Discussion Board of any nature you're ALWAYS going to offend someone.

Hey, the perks would be that

THE MORE THE BETTER! lol

Busy day.  Today's bitch is aliases.  Not using them, but people bitching about people using them.  Other than the mods who have to read them all in exchange for those great flights on the TER corporate jet, the rest of you can skip any post that doesn't look interesting.  I'd like to make an honest suggestion...if seeing certain postings makes you angry, why not avoid them?  I mean, if you went to the doctor and said it hurts when I do this, he'd likely say to stop doing it.  Think of this as free medical advice, and yes I was at a Holiday Inn Express just today, so I know of what I speak.

Any post you read should be filtered through your personal CPU and/or bullshit filter.  Most of you don't know me, so what makes you think that I'm telling the truth just because you recognize my name?  Conversely, if I post something and you don't know it's me, why is it more likely to be untrue?  I'll give you a clue...most of my alias postings are FAR more likely to be my real feelings.

Now, I'll grant you that many of us here are compulsive sorts.  It's part of what brings us here.  You'll read the post that some dirty alias bastard wrote and get your knickers in a knot.  You'll piss and moan about how they shouldn't do that.  I get it.  Just know that I'll be calling you an asshat.  Oh, and I'll use an alias to do it.  ;)

It's longer than 3 sentences. ;)

Well, I'm obviously ALL for aliases.  Specifically, semi-identifiable aliases,
but I could be biased. lol

I like aliases.  I have about 200 of them, many of which (like this one) have never been used. Anyone who doesn't like it can go baise un canard (French for "fuck a duck" and, yes I have that alias, too.).  Anyone with half a brain can figure out it's me writing them because I don't bother to change my writing style or I out myself at the end (see below).  Hell, even that drunken fucktard mikey figures out most of them.

In fact that's ONE of the many reasons for aliases.  People will speak the truth more often if they know they will NOT be tarred and feathered under their handle.   Alias Whiners are pussies, and I have no respect for them.

Over my long participation on this site, and participating on several other TER wannabee sites; THESE TER discussion boards allow for and maintain a candid liveliness that can not be found if the 'assumed' "anonymous" moniker is known literarily, platonically, or carnally by many others on the site.

I will always contend that there are a dozen or more good, practical and entertaining uses for Aliases,
and only ONE bad.

I like aliases. Many people think I don't, well because I hate attack aliases. The aliases that are made just to allow the aliased to attack others with impunity. Yes, I do have an attack alias, "ScoedSaysFuckYou" but as it outs itself it isn't of the kind I am talking about. I am talking about throw away alias made for the sole purpose of shielding its creator from the backlash of a personal attack on anther poster. Don't say that they have not been used for that sole purpose before as I could list plenty of examples.  Lately aliased attack posts have been way down and that is a good thing.

Lately aliased attack posts have been way down and that is a good thing. Yes,  little_rantingAss_phil, you may call me an asshat as often I am one. I am done whining about attack aliases for now. I just have to do it from time to time.

I support all other uses of aliases. I have used them for all other purposes. I think aliases are vital part of the TER boards and allow for greater honesty in some matters. Aliases as a whole add much. Long live aliases

P.S. As a peace offering because of bitching about attack aliases on your rant about people ranting about aliases here a photo from Met-Art.com of Jenni A. If I am guessing correctly she has a look you are into.

I was on another board quoting ter rules on reviews. and someone attacked me because I was posting under an alias. LOL they were rules that anyone could have looked up but were too lazy, but I had to be wrong because I was an alias! Aliases for the sole reason of attacking people, are not good, but aliases for humor, for protecting the providers in your reviews, and for many other reasons are all fine:)
And thanks for your rant. I was worried you were goig to miss day 3:)

I recall that baiser means to kiss, actually, though I do recall this insult.
I believe foutre is the more literal term, as in "Va'te fait foutre", if I'm not mistaken
Bien merci!

You just know that has to bring him a few chuckles when combing through the alias posts. ;)

Actually, the word baiser can mean either kiss or fuck, depending on the way it's pronounced.  You are right about the word "foutre," which is aother way to say fuck in French.

Ah yes!  Aliases are more truthful because, look, an alias claimed so!

Yea, right.
