END OF MESSAGE

I ,for one, find it very cool that TER has finally signed up for Twitter, one more interesting thing to follow.

But some people have it in their heads that this is the end of the world, the worst thing TER could do, and that they risk exposing the "underground" lifestyle of hobbying.

TER is not only a community the site itself is now a business and don't they have the right to advertise themselves where they see fit and network when and where they can?

Lots of people are on twitter, thousands of adult oriented material and members are on Twitter that this is long before TER signed up.
I just don't get why people are complaining...

... the porn stars, the porn industry, lingerie models, etc. etc.

The Internets (TM) is a *very* big place. Anyone complaining that the "children are there and can see it too," are ALREADY TOO LATE.

if a 12 year old, soccer mom, or LE wants to find you online- they can (google).

all porn, is readily available on the web... TER is pretty tame compared to most sites.... very tame.  And we also do discuss ALL aspects of the hobby, the heartache it can cause... as well as the fun.

We not so bad here.  In fact, I think that if someone were to read some of the posts today, edit them a bit, one could make for some pretty educational material - about committment, love sex and the connections between all three.

I also roll my eyes at the "think of the children" argument. It's a tired old bandwagon which seems to get rolled out anytime anyone needs a vehicle for controlling the behavior of adults. On this issue, as with many others, I find it manipulative and crass. Children should be supervised by their parents, not society, especially when it comes to the internet.

That said, I am of the strong opinion that it is both pointless and dangeous for TER to have an account on Twitter. The site can easily be found by anyone who has the inclination and access to a search engine. It does not belong on a general interest site like Twitter and putting it there simply provides more ammunition for those who would wish to censor the activities of our community.

I could care less where TER advertises. That's just me. I have no kids, so it's whatever to me. However, that does not mean I will act as if those who have spoken up have concerns that are NOT valid. Their concerns are quite valid.

Again, I don't care either way what TER decides to do in terms of Twitter, but I do feel the concerns brought forward are more than valid...especially when talking about exposing the hobby to children.

Just my .37 cents.

Definitely understand where you're coming from, but my point is that if people are using the argument that this would expose "Adult Things" to children, all I can say to them is... it's too late.

Additionally, when things are put online whether it is on Twitter or picked up by Google, you have to assume that the whole world can see it.

The important thing to remember when dealing w/ things online...  anonymity - at all times.  If you don't, you'll just end up biting yourself in the ass down the line.

Porn is legal, escorting is not...no publicity is good publicity.

Stop kidding yourself.  To those who are reading and watching they are one in the same.  The distinction may mean it's legal to talk about it but it does not make it wise to talk about it.

Three biggest lies in the hobby...

"You are paying only for time and companionship"

"This site does not promote prostitution"

and last but not least...The LE Check!
"You're not a cop right?"
"No, I'm not a cop"

that's not cop check, grabbing your dick and seeing if you pull away, if you do, I'm outta there without a word. Thats cop check.

Don't rely on any such tactics to tell LE from a client.  LE knows full well that they are allowed to do whatever it takes to make a bust, and they do it; even if it means not getting a conviction because they know that just the fact that they bust you is enough to wreck your livlihood for a while.

My two cents about twitter:  It's a bad idea.  We should stay in the shadows for now until such time as sex for pay is legal, or we'll end up like Craig's List.

You can't be serious about this...

FYI, if you are in the room with him and he is a cop you are going downtown no matter what you grab or don't grab...

BTW THEY ARE WATCHING AND THEY ARE READING EVERY DAY AND THEY ARE POSTING TOO

...should just keep compounding onto the problem. Yes I do see all this publicity as a problem.

I understand TER is a business and needs to promote from a bottomline point of view. So for TER of course this Twitter thing surely is the right thing to do, but I am not TER. I am a hobbyist and for me, things like safety and anonymity (for me and the ladies) is way more important. So some sign of restraint by the powers to be when it comes to publicity would be greatly appreciated. Currently it just seems TER thinks the disclaimer at the front page makes them invincible. I highly doubt it does, if the public eye decides to make them the next target after the CL thing is over. But then all that is just my opinion.

Talking about escorting is not the same as engaging in the hobby.

Lets all just sit back and see what happens the first time some idiot posts a quickie review of the girl he just left in a hotel room on Twitter.  Or maybe the first time some Craig's List reject provider posts what downtown hotel she is staying in.

Never assume intelligence. The dumber end of the hobbying community will always find a way to fuck things up for the rest of us.  The bigger the audience, the bigger the repercussions.

I like TER just the way it is
I don't have social networking profiles because i have kids and their friends who use them.
and i don't want my kids  to deal with the embarassment of someone seeing me on here because they followed an escort site on twitter.
My daughter knows what i do and is very supportive
but i dont want it thrown in her face  like that.
I think TER needs to stay lower profile, yeah kids will see it but lets not be standing on the corner yelling hey come check this out..
I would like to see it put to a members vote
but we all know it wouldn't matter anyway..ter will do what ter will do .

Started to advertise on Sirius Radio.
This is a marketing venture for TER, and there is a bottom line and goals to be met just like any other business.
It is up to us, as a community to take the necessary safeguards to keep ourselves out of harms way.
I think the worse that will happen is there will be some new clusterfucks coming around and posting. Now that may be fun ;)

I don't know, perhaps because we really don't need any more publicity. Lets dispense with the "this is a fictional" niceties. Lets not fool ourselves. The only reason CL found itself under pressure is not because of the murders that ocurred as a result of ads being run, it was because CL had a high profile and came to the attention of the public. I'd prefer not to see this website develop a high profile, and make itself a target as well.

Thank you!!!! This whole industry is suppose to be discreet. Whether we like it or not, whether it's wrong or right, it's against the law. If I wanted to be out there like that, I would rent a billboard. I'm on a couple of sites and my website is not searchable through search engines.

The people who want to find this site, will find it. Shove it peoples faces and we're going to end up with the morons who aren't really here for hobbying, they're just going to start trouble and run the site into the ground.

People who were around know, CL had it's issues, but they got much worse when the guy who startd it, started popping up all over, telling people

TER has lawyers and I'd bet they were consulted on this.  As was previously mentioned, the site has been advertised for years.  So, this is really just another place.

Personally, I'd prefer twatter or even titter, but I fail to see where the sky is falling.

That sure as hell doesn't mean the rest of us. To date, I have never heard of a single instance where law enforcement has used TER to set up a sting. I would really like for that not to change, and it damned well WILL change the higher TER raises its profile to the general public.

I'm sorry, but this Twitter idea is just STUPID. It doesn't put TER at risk, it puts US at risk.

I guess I feel being on twitter is
not a good idea due to the privacy of
this board and I feel protective as well
as find it difficult to meet outsiders.
I vote to let twitter be twitter and TER
be TER.I feel it can hurt the community
just my 0.02

I dont like that TER is on Twitter at all. Puts it out there even more, which I guess is good for TER but not for me. Yes it can bring more business but it can also bring more unwanted attention, and TER has had enough attention in the media in my opinion.

thanx for following me...btw u still have to go to my website for an appointment
thank you
