Right or wrong board? I dunno. 3:30am. Oy!
First, I'm compelled to compliment TER for moving so quickly to create the new regional CA boards(Gold Coast, Central Valley and Inland Empire), a smart business move no doubt and something that will likely evolve, depending on participation and new membership.  TER's done fine without my lil' ol' opinion on how to run their biz so far, so I'll leave it at that.

Second, I've read more info.(on a variety of sites) in recent days than I can process, regarding the end of another site. I don't know much about the other place. Peeked in once or twice I think, but never understood how vital it was to so many areas in CA.

I won't comment on the legal and/or other aspects. I have no knowledge in that regard.  I was however, extremely surprised and dismayed by how many people and the multiple ways, this event effected.  Example comment from a lady: "A decade of positive reviews gone.  How do I start over?"  I've read so many posts from seemingly lost folks, it makes my head spin, some truly heart-wrenching.

Then, I started seeing posts here(on multiple boards), from many of those same people looking for a new place to join, be accepted, reconnect with old friends and perhaps make new ones. From what I've observed, many TER members have been truly gracious, welcoming and understanding. Beyond lovely!

I'm just a little nobody in the grand scheme of things, but I would also like to express a warm welcome to ALL of the new ladies and gentlemen alike!  I look forward to reading your commments, humor, rants, experiences and learning from all of you.
      Hugs!
                  Desi :-)
P.S. A good fishing story's always appreciated too

I sympathize with those who have lost years of reviews.  Hopefully those hobbyists will write new reviews on here for those providers in short order.

I am wondering exactly where those three new areas are in California.  It might help of the major cities in those areas were identified so as to help those who might be traveling to California and want to know who they should see.  I've been to California many times but am still unfamiliar with the terms.

Before this, California had 4 areas:  San Diego, Orange County, LA, and SF.

Also, while the 3 new regional boards are now up, there should be local ad boards for each to that the providers in those areas can use them.

I hope all of the former members of the now shuttered (buy apparently still unmentionable) site find TER a wonderful home.

The only thing not mentioned in your excellent post is that this board is probably never going to go down due to the location of it's servers and the people behind it. From what I remember long ago, there was a discussion by the old admins of the precautions that were taken to insure that which made complete sense to me.

Boards have come and gone... Pretty sure this one is not going anywhere.

Great post as always.

-- Cheers!

There are plenty of dead boards out there..

Just look at Vancouver board. You don't have to go any farther than the 2nd page to look at 2012 posts.  How about consolidating some of these dead boards

Inland empire is basically Riverside, San Bernadino area.  Central Valley and Gold Coast is the area between L.A. and San Francisco. Gold Coast being the Beach cities, Ventura/Santa Barbara/Santa Maria/San Luis/Monterey.  Central Valley is inland, Bakersfield/Fresno/San Jose.  I'm not an expert on the exact borders, so this is intended as a general statement, not all inclusive.  Hope it helps. I'm in the Ventura area and all I really know is even the other board didn't have much for us, usually just drive to L.A. or Vegas.

As far as what cities these areas represent, the folks that live there or frequently visit know. New visitors can always look it up on google. Is it not the same as visiting any new area you are not familiar with? Also if those boards do indeed get used, I'm sure the city names will be mentioned in the ads and posts.

Yes, the area s are know to those there, and a quick look at the board will tell you the specifics. The areas may be a bit fluid at first but as the personality of the board forms it is a great home. I know I am over to the CV now, miss them.
