The subject of this thread came to me after posting one of my innumerable puns here, but it brings up a salient point : in dealing with life's insanities, a sense of humor is an invaluable defense mechanism; I would think it would be essential to hobbying, because if one engages in this "activity" for any length of time, a sense of humor is vital in dealing with the bad experiences that are inevitable with hobbying. Taking it a step further, do providers
like hobbyists with a sense of humor ? & vice versa ? ( by the way, vice versa is NOT a reference to Italian LE--------ugh-----

especially in providing. I love it when a hobbyist has a sense of humor. It makes our time together so enjoyable. If we didn't have a sense of humor at times, I think we would all be raving lunatics.

A little levity can help relax both people.  So, go ahead tell a joke!  Just watch where teeth are when telling it!

when you realize that if you can't sit back and laugh at yourself, for whatever reason, you will not be a happy person.

The ability to not take ourselves to seriously and be able to laugh at, and joke about ourselves without anger or being self conscious, is on of the greatest "attributes" we can have.

yea, a sense of humor is essential... some of my best experiences have happened when humor came into play...  too numerous to catalogue...

But most of the time it deals with the people in the hobby...  and the non-hobbiests view of us...  once it was stated that M&Gs would be obvious to civies as it would be a bunch of older gents with younger women....  my take... it would look like me out with the soccer mom's on my daughter's soccer team...   they are mostly in their 30's while I just turned 60!  odd no?
