Suggestion and Policy

That's easy

Because some hobbyists are too stupid or naive to have a separate email address for the hobby. I have seen hobbyists using email addresses that lead right to their real names and sometimes even their work.

I don't think that TER should facilitate any more stupidity then it already has, and I doubt that they would agree with such a preposterous suggestion.

Have a registry of people who wouldn't mind being contacted by other TER members who don't have PM privileges.  There can also be a place to list TER members whom you do not want having your email sent out to.

This way, people don't always have to be posting their email on local boards, etc. on account of the fact they don't have PM.

Sorry mrf. While I usually respect your opinion, this one is a dumb suggestion. TER is here to make money. They WANT members to be VIP. One of the benefits of VIP is the ability to use the PM system. They even make it easy to get VIP without paying by giving free days for reviews, problem reports and RAPs, as well as allowing providers free limited VIP.

There is nothing for TER to gain by creating an email registry, for folks who do not want to be VIP.

posting their emails openly, which is a safety issue.

I tend to doubt that the PM system is that much of an incentive to get VIP compared with the reviews.

but how is giving out an email address a safety issue?

Thanks

I completely agree!
Aaaaaand, have a question - why don't you, naughty hobbyists, write more reviews?!
As far as I know, 2 of them puts you on the VIP list anyway!!!
