i use WinMX to file share, and the chat freezes up all the time. want i should let you know what ports it uses specifically?
is it possible to fix on your end or do i just need to keep choosing between this way cool song or chatting with these way cool people?

Nicole, you should be able to modify settings in WinMX so that it doesn't use the usual ports.  Here's what I use and I don't have a problem with chat:

Settings
Incoming TCP Connections
   (.)Unable to accept incoming TCP connections

Internet Connection
  In/Out UDP Packets
    (.)Unable to use UDP datagrams on any port

Connection Type
 (.)Make a secondary connection to the network

The chat is a only on port 80.  It is a html based chat.
