There are 2 TER guidelines that apply to your cases.  The first rejection for too old seems to follow the guideline #9 (see below), which seems reasonable.  Your second rejection for the update seems to relate to guideline #8 (see below).  The only thing I can think of is that it wasn't a "complete rewrite".  Your theory that they rejected your update to get you to pay for membership doesn't work, because the guideline already states that you don't get credit for an update.

Here are the guidelines:

8. You may also submit an update on a provider that you have already reviewed.  We will replace your old review, but you won't be credited for an additional 15 days.  Your new review must be a complete rewrite that adds something new to the experience in order for it to replace the old one.

9. Each review must recount a visit that took place within the last three months in order to be timely.  A lot can change with a provider - even in this relatively short period.

When I tried to submit a well-written, very detailed review of a provider when the encounter happened perhaps six months ago, it gets rejected for being "too old".  "Things change" they say.  But then when I submit a review for a provider I have seen before, but I want to update things because she and her service has changed, they reject it because I have already submitted a review on that provider. I can see them rejecting reviews from someone seeing and reviewing his ATF once a week, but my review clearly stated at the top that she had gained weight and the service was different.

Maybe what's really going on here is "reject reviews for every reason you can think of so as to encourage members to PAY for a VIP membership."

My theory still "works" because I am saying they are in that frame of mind, not that every rejected review would have resulted in increased credits. Rejected reviews frustrate a user regardless. He will then feel like "why bother submitting reviews when so many get rejected? I guess I'll have to start paying."

The review was TOTALLY new, not one word copied from the previous one, and, like I said, started out detailing changes from the previous encounter. Maybe they need to explain what "rewrite" means.

The policy still sucks.  If a guy has two wildly different encounters with the same provider in a one year period, why not keep both of them in the database?  It serves to show the variety of services she can provide. No credits? I can handle THAT, but if the original review was worth having in there, why toss it just because I've seen her again?

OK, let the rationalizations come! Everybody kiss up to TER big time now!

Did you send an email to Staff asking why your rewrite was not accepted, given their policy to allow them?

A simple solution would seem to be to include information from your previous review(s) in the new updated one.

I don't like all the policies, but overall I think this is the best site of its kind.  If you think that's kissing up, ok.
I am just grateful for what there is, considering what it was like before TER!

Not speaking about your reviews in particular, since I havent read them, but I wish TER would reject more reviews.

A lot of them are obviously written to just get credit and their truth is suspect.

So accusing them of rejecting reviews to try to get extra paid memberships holds absolutely no water with me. I think they are too lenient in accepting marginal reviews. I once made the suggestion that no one should be able to submit a review for credit without first paying for at least a month of VIP membership, and after that they were eligible to submit reviews for credit (this was to make it more difficult for people to set up throwaway accounts and give bogus good reviews for rip off's anonymously.)

And the whole thing about having to pay for VIP membership anyway...some of you guys are willing to average $300/hour with a lady, but $200/year for good accurate infmormation is an insult????

It is cost effective one ripoff or bad experience.

Kissing up to STAFF or GND and a bus token will get you across town. (Unless I get some reward for that last statement...will have to watch my PM for all the free credit days to roll in as my reward for kissing up).

The policies here were not just randomly created.  Most were created over time due to the membership and problems we have had in the past.  The policies are still changing as we speak.  TER is a community, we really do listen to you and your suggestions.  I wish that we could make everyone happy, but that would be impossible.
