Require government issued photo ID for providers

In light of today's thread on the GD board where Goldie Knox insists she's 25, which means in 2008 when she received her first TER review, she was an underage prostitute - I think to protect hobbyists from the possibility of contacting underage providers on TER, and to protect TER from posting reviews about underage prostitution, TER needs to immediately require submission of a government issued photo ID for all providers.

Eros has the optional Eros Authentication Medallion

I think Providers pay an extra fee and submit documentation and they get the big red medallion on their ads.  

Maybe TER could offer two levels, also. TER can issue "TER Authentication Medallions" (if Eros doesn't get pissed and sue TER for using the idea).  

I don't think it should obligatory, at least not at first. There are some 26-30s and 30-35s that are known to be way past those ranges but I don't really need to have that fantasy destroyed by the cruel facts. (As long as she looks 26-30 to me, she's 26-30!)

It's more important for 18-20 and 21-25.

No, that wouldn't work

ALL providers must submit valid government issued photo ID, otherwise it would be considered age discrimination to ask only 18-25 year old providers to submit ID.

P411 requires ID, but they allow the provider to select the age she wishes to display on her profile. By requiring ID, P411 is covering their ass in case an age issue such as the one with Goldie Knox, ever comes up. If TER had Goldie's ID and knew her real age, then they could have the option to either make her adjust her age if she were lying - or, if she indeed was underage in her first TER review, ban her for opening them up to the scrutiny of LE and the Feds for posting a review of an underage provider.

Adult industry workers must submit government photo ID in order to work with and advertise on adult sites, so I don't see the issue if TER does the same. I'm making an issue about this because I happen to like TER and do not want to see them get in trouble, make the news, or be shut down because of underage prostitution.

I once asked a provider why she didn't use P411, and she replied that having to furnish ID was the deal killer. She (understandably) didn't want her real name out there.

What's to stop a provider from photoshopping her ID, either to change her real name or her birthday?  I'm sure that plenty of people do it. The various anti-counterfeiting measures, such as holograms and film layers, don't show up in a scan or photo. They are designed to make it easier to spot fake ID's when presented in person.  

In the end, it's a CYA move, so no one will look too closely.

Might not be such a bad idea

Especially given what was used to go after BP -- while they are going after them for sex ads I think the big selling point for CA is the underage sexual abuse aspect. If any ad site required the advertiser to at least provide a photo id but age and the person when they post some pic (maybe even offer a photo service so the uploads are not blurred and once approved for posting the provider can define the areas to be blurred and the degree of blurring applied.

Now there's a very strong case that the law protecting the hosting site from content posted applies and proof of working to protect the young and greatly increasing the likelihood it's a purely voluntary arrangement.

which I didn't know. If TER did that, that would allow the real grannies to remain Forever 21.

The thing with the Goldie Knox mess is that false age claims make the first reviewers from 2008 - early 2009 appear to be pedophiles. A lot of guys are willing to take a risk to break the law regarding prostitution with a consenting adult but do NOT want to cross certain other legal, moral and ethical boundaries.

A lady can be invited to P411 if a client with 5 or more OKs nominates her. She then may or may not require additional info from them to be listed.

Someone I know got listed this way.

If only TER accesses it

Many sites require this- then after they verify, no one sees it again. They also require proof that the photos are of you.

Not the same thing.

P411 requires proof that a provider is actually a provider. That is done by having reviews, or having a client member in good standing vouch for them. (This is what you are talking about)  
They require a government ID to prove age.

Problems with this

1) Thousands of review profiles belong to providers who are not TER members. Profiles are created by clients, not providers. Many of the ladies reviewed either don't know about TER, or don't want to be on TER, or don't care. If every provider with reviews here had to be a member and verify herself, a lot of the 300,000 plus profiles and 1.4 million reviews would disappear. I don't think TER would want that. It would also be really hard to get a new review of a new provider approved and there would be a lot less TOFTTs.

2) Many providers already here would refuse to show their ID, and TER would lose a lot more profiles that way. When P411 asked for IDs, providers started threatening to leave P411. I'm not sure there has been a mass exodus from p411, but I know a lot of providers don't like the ID requirement.  

3) For those that are willing to show their ID, it is super easy to create a fake ID or modify a real one.  Especially if you are just sending photos over the Internet. So what would this prove?

In Goldie's case, I'm pretty sure everyone knows she was not underage when she started. She was just lying about her current age. Thousands of providers (and millions of women) lie about their age all the time. In this case it was really stupid because it does call out those early reviews as being of an underage provider. Goldie was stupid to argue on the GD thread that she is 25. She should have done the simple math herself. When she was called out on the age thing, she could have easily said, "Oops! You are right. I just turned 26! I guess I need to update my profile. Thanks!"

TER is primarily a review site. But TER does blur things a bit, such as with the regional ad boards. If ID was required for posting ads, I guess your (2) and (3) would still kick in.  

It wouldn't be a perfectstorm, it would be a shit storm of protesting Providers!

I recenrlt joined and had to submit I.d. Also had to take a picture of myself holding my I.d. Supposedly clients aren't put thru the same screening (only required to submit I.d but no selfie shot). Made me think twice about joining p411, to be honest.
