I would think alias should be able to be ignore since there are from hinders.

I have a feeling it would be a difficult (expensive) system change to make, or it would have been done. I believe what prevents this from being done is that there's a tight relationship in the system between aliases and handles, such that ignoring an alias would also ignore the handle--and out the alias.
